SOME CHILDREN START PUBERTY AS YOUNG AS 8 YEARS OLD. That is a fact.

If you don't know that...please...attend some classes.
Yes but their bodies may be developed but their minds aren’t! Surely with your educational background you hopped into a human growth and development class at some point. If not …..please…. attend one.

And more is coming.

DeSantis can't be that blind to know that the #1 industry in his state is tourism and WDW plays a huge draw to the the millions of guests to spend their time and money and investing in the Sunshine State.

I'm sorry, what? Grooming has nothing to do with homophobia or homosexuality whatsoever. A heterosexual male pedophile grooming a young girl is still grooming.

Linking grooming to homophobia is, itself, homophobia.

That's what makes "don't say gay" such an insidious misnomer. I don't object to gay sexualization of children, I object to all sexualization of children.
No. This is as historically ignorant as the nonsense about blackface in this thread. The accusation about all gay males being pedophiles has a long, long history as a homophobic slur. And it is that history that is being invoked by calling this an "anti-grooming" bill. It is hate, pure and simple, whether you support the bill or not.

And I ask AGAIN, WHY DID THE CHAMPIONS OF THIS BILL REJECT AMENDMENTS THAT WOULD HAVE BANNED ALL DISCUSSION OF SEX ACTS IN K-3?

Another fact.

I was 8 when I started puberty. I distinctly remember when my mother told me that I needed a bra and going to Macy’s that same weekend with her to purchase one. I also remember being bullied for my early development. I got my first menstrual cycle before starting middle school.

This happens a lot more than people seem to realize.

It’s quite interesting how prude America has become.

Other countries discuss sex in a much healthier and normalized way.
This board is not a full and accurate portrait of America - at least I hope it's not, considering the misinformation that we are fed over and over again on mask and COVID threads, and the hateful bigotry that we are fed on threads like this, quite often by the exact same people.

By the way, the "grooming" line that has appeared here a couple times, including on the last page, is bigotry springing from a long, sad history of homophobia. It's not new, and it's absolutely not acceptable. It's hate, and I would hope everyone on here could condemn it.
Not a bigot. And not homophobic. I say, as adults, go live your lives and be happy. But we're talking about 5-8 year olds. Who are still in early stages of their mental development and VERY impressionable. Don't like the term? Call it something else. Just leave the sexuality/gender talk at home where it belongs. With the parents.

You know what's funny?

There was/is an active conversation going on in here related to minors masturbating (as young as 8)....you don't get why that may make some people uncomfortable or think, "Why the heck are they talking about this in a public forum?"?

EXCUSE YOU. NO ONE IS GROOMING YOUR CHILD FOR ANYTHING. GIVE THE HOMOPHOBIA A FREAKING REST.
Why do you associate grooming (pedophelia) with being gay? I assossate it with trying to abuse ANY children but you are colluding the two subjects.

Just like the other poster colluding sexual acts with puberty.

It’s suspect in the most innocent of terms, and… criminal in the most heinous of terms.

What about children who have 2 moms or 2 dads? Should they not be allowed to talk about their families? Because the way the bill is worded, parents can sue schools and teachers for allowing these discussions.

If my offense to pre teen children being exploited and exposed to people who want to groom them offends you then so be it.

There is a special place for people who abuse children.
Then surely you can provide some specific evidence of how existing law fell short, was exploited and motivated this legislation.

Again, this applies to more than that age group. Will you be the one explain how language more specifically focus on this issue would “gut” the bill?
