Boardwalk or Yacht Club

I am taking a trip March 5-11, 2011 and was going to stay at the Contemporary if my 15 year old nephew would have come with me and my mom (his grandmother). I do not think my nephew will be coming with us and it will be me and my mom, who is in her mid 60's. Which resort would you recommend for the two of us, the Boardwalk or the Yacht Club? Any help would be appreciated. I want us to stay in the Epcot area because my mom likes Epcot so much better and I am hoping the International Flower & Garden Show will be going on.

Thanks and have a Magical Day!!!

Yacht Club gives you access to Stormalong Bay if you care about that.

Yacht is more of an 'upscale' feel, like a stately resort. Boardwalk is more of a seaside relaxed feel.

Its basically down to theming for those two. Yacht is, I guess, a few tenths of a mile closer to the International Gateway, but BW is closer to DHS.

IFGF starts March 2nd next year, so you'll be in luck on that part.

Boardwalk unless you will be using Stormalong Bay for more than for sun bathing. I have stayed at Beach Club and Boardwalk and other than the pool the Boardwalk was more enjoyable. Either way cant go wrong.

I would go Boardwalk between the two. If the pool is a big factor then I would definitely go Yacht Club, but it doesn't seem like it would be for you two.

I guess the bottom line is that there isn't much of a difference other than preference in theming and the pools.

Honestly they are both beautiful, and since they are so close together you could enjoy them both equally. So go for either one! I'm sure using eithers pool wouldn't be a huge deal and as for dinning there are so many options in the area so why not try them all.

I would say YC. There are a lot of nice places to sit outside and relax and it's really a very peaceful resort. And you have the Beach Club with it's shops and restaurants...

We stayed at the boardwalk many years ago and nothing really stands out in my memories. But I do like to walk over from the YC and visit the shopping area:).

Personally- I would choose Yacht Club. I just love the dark woods and the colors of their themeing. Both have an amazing location- but I prefer the pool and restaurants at this resort (and Beach Club). They're both so close that visiting the other restaurants and entertainment is easy. It's a win-win choice- IMHO...............

Thanks everyone for helping me make my decision. I'm glad to hear the flower and garden show will be going on while we are there, my mom will love that and I hope it will not be too crowded. I was leaning towards the Yacht Club but wanted to hear from those who have stayed at the resorts. Thanks again!

Have a Magical Day!!!

I like the YC better. I like the theme of it better then the Boardwalk. And the pool - it is amazing!!!! :sohappy:

I've stayed at the Beach Club but not at the YC or BW. That said, I believe the YC will be a better choice. It has a nicer pool, it's quieter, and you can still enjoy the Boardwalk.

Of the two, YC is better. It is more upscale and that brings a few upscale shops and restraurants. The price per night is the same. Having said that, I really liked Beach Club. you are a little closer to Epcot and it doesn't have the upscale feeling. At the YC, I felt funny walking through in by swimsuit while dripping water on the floor.
