it desperately needed it. one of the most unpleasant things about heading down to the bakery for coffee was dealing with the microscopic queue space they had there.
and since every ipad/iphone/ipod is now essentially it's own game room, ESPN didn't need to take up all that space with an arcade (even though i was a sharpshooter at hot shot basketball).
Thanks for posting the photos! Here are photos from the newly refurbed BoardWalk Bakery http://www.wdwmagic.com/dining/boar...dwalk-bakery-2013-refurbishment-completed.htm
Happy to tell you that the kitchen is still open, and has 3 large windows to the Boardwalk so that passers by can watch.Bakery looks great and yes a counter service was needed for this resort. The only negitive i see is it looks ,from the pictures, you no longer have the open kitchen fill to watch the goodies being made.
We ate there last night. My husband and I had the lobster roll - very tasty but at $16, not something I'd rush out to have again. My mom had the quiche and soup of the day combo, and my dad had the pork/coke slaw sandwich. Both enjoyed their selections as well. We had a peanut butter bar and the peanut butter/banana/bacon pie for dessert.
The new space is very nice with plenty of queue area and a long display case. The service was a bit slow for the sandwiches, but it was only their first day back in operation. When we went back for dessert, the line was much faster. All in all, I think it was a very successful refurbishment, and a good, albeit expensive, quick service alternative.
How did you like the peanut butter/banana/ bacon pie? I was looking at the photos earlier today and it sounds intriguing. I must admit, I find an awful lot of things are improved by adding bacon.
Was there any discount before the refurb? For those wondering, there appear to be no discounts at all there, not even Cast.
