News Blue Sky Cellar has reopened for Pixar Pier Exhibit. And TDA gossip.

I figured out how to change the identifier from "Rumor" to "News", and slightly rebranded the thread title now that it happened.

The next time she stops by for a chat and a beverage, I'll have to ask the neighbor lady if this means Blue Sky Cellar stays open through 2019 and 2020 to cover Star Wars Land, Marvel Land, further expansion, etc. But for now, it's all about Pixar Pier, as she mentioned it would be...

How about you bake her a lemon cake this weekend? Drop it off at her house, when she's in the bathroom, go through her purse, journals, anything that might have more info.

The entry area to Pixar Pier where Lasseter's Lair will be actually seems like a pleasant plussing up of this original 2001 complex.

Does anyone know if the nearby wave machine in Paradise Lagoon will be working again once this is all done?

When they first announced Pixar Pier, I had really hoped that the overlay was mostly finishing up the Victorian boardwalk theming while just subtly adding the Pixar characters where they made sense. Nope - they went the midcentury modern home, fast food chicken box stand, static figurines route. A slight shift from the Victorian seaside concept...

The entry area is the one improvement...

I wonder what caused the second spinner to get scrapped. There’s more than enough room for it in the helix, although it might affect evacuation routes for the coaster (I know there are a few sets of evacuation staircases inside that helix). Hopefully we’ll see the spinner added down the road.
The Inside Out Spinner is still in. From what I remember reading it's going to be added as a further "expansion."

I wonder if they're going to keep all those seaside carnival rides on the other end. Could use that space for some dark rides.

Well, the Swings, Golden Zephyr and Jumpin' Worstever are right on the waterfront, so no dark ride there without blocking everyone's view of the "bay." Sky School's the only ride that could make way for an indoor attraction. And it should.

Yeah, the Inside Out spinner hasn’t gone anywhere. I was referring to the Incredibles spinner in the eastern helix

No, they thought Magic Bands would make people more irresponsible. It’s an idea that has some scientific basis, as studies have repeatedly shown that people spend more freely when the concept money is more abstracted. This is why arcades went from quarters to tokens to digital credits. I don’t think such studies show such huge differences but the ability to plan every minute was also supposed to increase satisfaction which also helps to increase spending.

The massive investments being seen at Walt Disney World aren’t part of some cycle of spending where attention shifts between Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World. The Company hasn’t been that small in decades. Walt Disney World is getting new investments because NextGen has failed spectacularly. It has not delivered it’s huge increases in guest spending nor has it squeezed more capacity out of the existing facilities.

Maybe people also don’t want to decide they will have Italian food on a Wednesday at 3pm 180 days from now.

The ridiculous over-aggressive planning has sucked the joy out of the “vacation”. A “vacation” you need a spreadsheet and rock solid planning. Yeah. Joy.

For all the hate WDW management gets they have knocked it out of the park with DAK development (led by Joe Rohde) and HEA.

That’s a different level of management than is being referred to. More mid level management approving rental tent cabana’s than the on high approving the capex spending.

Capex projects (whether you like them are not) are amazingly on a roll right now at WDW. No on should deny that.

Yep it sure is. WDW is long overdue. Unfortunately some posters like to undersell it because the parks were stagnant for so long. Yes, we know they're playing catch up. Still doesn't negate that spending is going on.

Poor Disneyland though. Pixar Fest looks tacky and lackluster. I'm sorry they're going through this. How can anyone at Disneyland truly promote this thing with a straight face? It feels so lame to me. And slightly embarrassing. (And before we get a reminder of a bad 60s Sock Hop promotion or State Fair promotion, because they were lame too doesn't excuse Pixar Fest being lame-o also)
