Well I snagged the last weekend we will be on property buying points from a DVC member and we are staying at BLT Mar14-16th!!
THIS IS A FIRST FOR US!!!
Have only stayed at the POLY on the monorail line and am really excited to try a new resort!! So how is the pool over at BLT? Does it have a slide ? And is the food located over at the CONT ?
I've looked at the studio rooms on the WDW website and they look nicer than the studio we have at BWV last November

AM VERY EXCITED!! Just hope I get somewhere close to an elevator...I got a thing about being close to the elevator....

Oh, the pool is nice but activities there are very loud. Nice slide that kids will probably love. It is a little fast for this old, fat guy. Yes, food is at the Contemporary. View from the top of BLT is amazing. Overall a great place. We have stayed at several DVCs and you really can't beat BLT location.

I see we have access to 3 pools at BLT/CONT thanks to your TR. And I want to go to the Top of the World lounge even if I have to stick the kids in child care over at GF for a couple of hours. Will I get access to it since I am renting DVC points and not a DVC member ?

No, unfortunately TotW is members only. It has it's own elevator and you have to show your DVC member card to go up, and you will be escorted up by a cast member. Not sure how strictly this is enforced.
Yes, the pools at the Contemporary are nice.

You lucky ducky!:D

I know... I am pulling this trip off with no money in reserve because Christmas wiped me and last year was slow for me and then issues with family....and I still went to WDW for Thanksgiving ..
Anyways I had two good weeks in a row on commissions so instead of paying the credit cards off I decided wth just made decent payments on them and then bought these DVC points and paid on the room only using my AP discount for the other days...
I now feel like tomorrow I will clean with a smile on my face...oh jeez I been in such a funk since new years. I am really pumped knowing we are headed to WDW. I threw a couple of loads in the washer today and Jim walks in from the backyard...stops and says hey what is that strange noise I hear coming from the laundry room ?

I would try it anyway your KTTW will say DVC if it's a slow night and a relaxed CM they will probably let you up there. On a busy night they are quite strict about access, DW and I are founding members of BLT

If challenged about membership card just say you are staying as guests of the member

There is a BLT desk now - which cost the members a pretty boost in MF's

I bet..I noticed the maintenance fees for BLT are cheaper than the other DVC properties though...I think @ParentsOf4 told me once it was because it is the only property built like a hi rise so the keeping up the grounds of the resort is a lot less. So it has a lobby.....????

He's a lawyer from St Louis..I paid the transaction with PayPal...and I hate PayPal..I know why I hate PayPal and it all came flooding back yesterday afternoon when I added a 0 to his email account and sent the money to somebody who doesn't exist. Then cancelled the transaction when he kept emailing me he hadn't received the money and because when I looked again I saw why he wasn't receiving the money because of my freaking typo and so I re-did it and of course the credit will probably take a week to reverse because the first charge is still showing pending...

Too bad y'all aren't coming up that weekend I could put the kiddos in daycare and meet you up there as your guest and buy y'all a cocktail!:)

Use of TotW is pretty strictly enforced.

IMHO, the view is better from the balconies at the Contemporary that face the MK & BLT. TotW can be somewhat crowded. The balconies tend to have plenty of space.

BLT always has had its own smallish lobby but as of about 1 1/2 years ago, BLT check-ins are handled directly in the BLT lobby vs. at the Contemporary.

BLT still has the lowest Maintenance Fee (MF), $4.78/point, but it's also increased the most (percentage-wise) over the last 3 years (up 23% in 3 years). I see no good reason for another big increase in 2015 so, hopefully, these big increases are a thing of the past now for BLT.

We're not crazy about the BLT pool. It's small and is in the shade a lot because of the tower. We tend to walk over to the Contemporary pool, which is less than 5 minutes away.

Great so we can use the CONT pool? When I read the TR @epcotisbest wrote they visited all the pools between the 2 properties when they stayed at BLT last Sept., but he is actually a dvc member, not just purchasing points.

Just got back from a week at BLT and I absolutely loved it! We had a standard view and we could see space mountain and the castle...so we were able to watch wishes from our room. We were on the 5th floor...same floor as the sky walk so it was a short walk over to Contemp Cafe for breakfast/filling mugs. We were there on my parent's DVC points and they did not allow us to go to TotW. I enjoyed the pool....it was a little small, but not very crowded so that was nice. I absolutely loved being able to walk to MK. The monorails were down last week from 11am-7pm, so that was kind of a bummer, but we usually start at the parks early so it wasn't a huge deal for us. Here was our view for fireworks:
