Two questions...
1. I have heard people say that Summit Plummit hurts...why and how?
2. There will be 6 of us - anyone know how much a polar patio would cost and do you think it's worth it?

It hurts because it's so tall you go pretty fast. haha. Polar Patio, depends on how long you want to stay. They rent for half an hour to the full day. Full day is 250 US Dollars plus tax.
Summit Plummet is the flagship attraction at 120 feet (36.6 m) tall, and speeds 60 miles per hour (97 km/h). It's the third-tallest and fastest free fall slide in the world. There is a minimum height requirement of 48 in (122 cm). ; Sidenote, do mind that the line for this can be at minimum over 3 hours at peak season.

Sorry!!! I still don't get it...like how does it hurt? Like you've been slapped, like a belly flop but slightly different? What part of your body gets hurt? I was all for doing this until I heard there may be pain involved. I have a pretty high pain tolerance but I am very fearful of the unkown...as in I want to know at least a little what to expect.

Haha it's not like you got a body slam. Maybe the sensation of a wedgie but all that depends on weight/ how fast you actually slide down and how far. It's not like you'll get burned, but it does movie your bikini bottom, swim trunks, and under wear. Other than that it's pretty tolerable.

You definitely get wedgies, but for me, it was more of the water slapping my body. It's not unbearable though! I'm a wimp when it comes to pain and I still thought it was fun!

Summit Plummet didn't hurt when I did it. It was actually a lot of fun.
Slush Gusher is next to it, and while it's not as tall it's actually much more frightening to ride, since your body temporarily breaks contact with the surface of the slide as you go down.

Now, Humonga Cowabunga at Typhoon Lagoon was very painful to me. I rode it twice in quick succession and developed a nice little bruise on my left thigh.
It's probably just not as developed a slide design as the newer ones of Blizzard Beach.

We went with some friends a few years ago, and he went down it 8 times (we went on a day where it rained in the morning and it was a bit cool-ish so the park was almost empty). He sent me a picture of his lower back/side the next morning and he had a huge bruise. I've been on in and it doesn't hurt that bad, but I've never done it 8 times in a row.

Yea - 8 times...must not hurt that bad then. I can deal with a bruise the next day, especially if it's because I went on multiple times.

I'm a little bit on the boney side so I feel some slapping and sort of scratching sensation on my back as I go down from the high velocity of hydroplaning on the water but it's not literal. I mean my back isn't red when I get off the slide.

I am seriously considering the polar patio though - there will be 6 of us and my middle child is kind of anti-social in the sense that she doesn't like high crowds and it can cause her a little bit of anxiety - part of why we are going in September instead of one of the busier times. My mom is older and is already hemming and hawing about even going to the water park. My husband is a ginger who will burn easily & who can't swim. So I think the isolation, shade, lack of drowning possibilities, etc may be a nice thing. The only question I have, since it's been SO long since we've been to a water park, is how often are you really sitting in your lounge chairs? That's the only thing making me hesitate. I don't want to pay the $238, (I called last night), and then not even use it that much.

As a an adult couple, if we are in a water park and want to sit, we get in some rings and float down the lazy river. The rest of the time is for riding slides. If I want a lounger then we go to the resort pool. But we don't have kids so your situation will differ and it depends a lot how many people want to ride slides all day.

I've heard from fellow riders that Summit Plummet hurt the shoulder blades. I think it is from going so fast and where the pieces of the ride connect. I know someone who rode it and they were really red there after riding.

At Blizzard Beach there are many secluded shady spots that your family can retreat too. The nice thing about the patios is that they are right in the middle of everything. However, if you keep walking down the paths towards the back of the park - there are shady areas that had no one (or any of their stuff) on the lounge chairs. When we went in June with my 7 year old. We spent seriously about 45 minutes in the lounge chairs. We fully intended to do more resting - however, it just didn't pan out that way. And I sunburn very easily and reapplied twice. There is surprisingly a lot of shade at Blizzard Beach, especially in the lazy river.
