Both Wiki and IMDB list Disney as a production company:

Disney is listed in IMDB as a production company for Valian, but, interestingly, not on Wiki.

A production credit doesn't mean there was any actual producing. It's a credit distributors often receive.

Regardless, Valiant and The Wild, like Pixar films pre-2007, are acquisitions distributed by the company, not produced by the company. They're not considered "Disney Animated Features", as only WDAS-created films (including Dinosaur) make that cut.

And just like when TDA got caught way behind the curve on the Frozen cultural phenomenon of 2013, they are now caught way behind the curve on the Black Panther craze of '18.

Box Office Mojo has released their weekend predictions today. They estimate that Black Panther could make $410 million in the US by the end of Sunday. If true, that would mean BP would make more money than Frozen did in its entire domestic run in just 10 days.

I bet TDA is scrambling to come up with the cheapest, fastest way to cash in on this movie's success (popcorn buckets?). Or maybe they think Pixar Pier is enough to keep the summer crowds and Marvel munchkins happy.

We should all be thankful. The alternative would be for the Studio and P&R to merge so that their business synergies align to be more efficient and responsive to box office phenomenons like Frozen and Black Panther. If you're not a fan of IP everywhere at the resorts the current status quo with each BU operating independently is a good thing.

Well Summer of Heroes wasn't it.

Super heroes in theme parks aren't draws anymore. You can go to any Six Flags park and see Batman. Universal has an entire themed land to it and it didn't help attendance until Potter showed up. Super heroes are a pretty generic offering. I'm surprised Disney would want to do something with such a played out concept. It's very DCA 1.0.

Just saw Black Panther. Just saying, if they want to add the character to the parks, there's a way in that's far easier (though just as lazy) than the explanations given for Mission Breakout, Guardians in Epcot, and Iron Man in HK.

Nah, it's because his little sister mentions Disneyland. Just have the story be Black Panther visits Disneyland with his little sister and BAD THINGS HAPPEN.

This is basically the Iron Man Experience storyline at Hong Kong Disneyland. Iron Man is doing a meet n greet in the park when Hydra bots are spotted trying to steal his battery thing from Stark Tower in downtown HK, so you have to go with him to stop them.

Interestingly, in the UK, The Wild is classified as Disney Classic #46 - Dinosaur is not counted [and neither is Winnie the Pooh (2011)].

I had never heard of The Wild until this thread. 🤷‍♂️
How about Valiant?
