Hey all,
We're thinking about doing our first-ever road trip this summer. I remember doing this one as a kid, but require your recommendations as to accomodations. Specifically, any in Deadwood, around Rushmore and Yellowstone.
Thanks
We'll be taking the I29 from the Manitoba border to Sioux Falls and then west on I90 into the Black Hills and Mount Rusmore area. We'll spend a few days there before heading towards Wind Cave, the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone (via Wyoming). We're not campers, only because the ex took all the equipment in the divorce, although we do have a small tent. From Yellowstone, we plan on going up and following the Montana Dinosaur Trail eastward so we'll loop around back to North Dakota and home.
I've been to Glacier but my son, who is 8, has not. This will be our first road trip together (with the exception of going to the cabin in the summer which is 2.5 hours away). I remember going to Deadwood and seeing Crazy Horse, Boot Hill (Wild Bill) and the saloon. Close to there is Wind Cave and Jewel Cave, which are both open to the public.
As for Yellowstone, I would like to stay in the park, but when I checked it out, it says there is no tv, internet or cell phone service. Being a single woman traveling with my son, I'm not ready to ditch the safety of modern technology ... lol. I remember staying in a place called Jackson Hole ... but checking it out online makes me think it may be out of the budgetI'll check out Livingston and Cody.
