Bits of info from WDI

Well, I've got some new pieces of information from, yes you read right, Walt Disney Imagineering! It was kind of a long journey, but it payed off somewhat in the end. I called Walt Disney Imagineering in California and was transferred about 6 times because the people they kept transferring me to didn't know about the expansion, or couldn't help at the moment. So after about 15 minutes of transfers and explanations, etc. I was transferred to a kind man named Frank. He answered my questions really well and very kindly unlike some of the rudeness you find when you usually call the WDC nowadays. So anyway, I asked him a few questions and well, I got answers! Haha, now most of this stuff is things we already know, but some are new little bits that we didn't know of before. So okay, here's the info I was able to retrieve...

-Phase 1 will be opening in Fall of 2012.

-Phase 2 will be opening either in Spring 2013 or Summer of 2013.

-They will be retheming the train station as if it was in a Fantasy Forest, he mentioned that the entire theme will be of a Fantasy Forest.

-He mentioned that in February(next month) we will begin to see "back of house" construction and progress going on. "Back of House" meaning backstage, and in Spring of this year we will begin to see walls go up in some parts of Fantasyland.

-Sadly, the teacups will not, I repeat NOT, get a new roof.:( He told me that it is not "in the scope" I believe it was that he said, it may go back in the scope but as of now it isn't.

-They will relocate the Winnie the Pooh M&G, there will be (of course) merchandise locations, a new train station themed as if it were in a fantasy forest, the Barnstormer will, as rumored, receive a new theme, that being, a circus theme.

-And last but not least, Pixie Hollow will NOT, again, NOT!, be getting cut from the expansion, and neither is the attraction. He did confirm to me that there will be a Pixie Hollow attraction of sorts (no, not the M&G) but they do not yet have concept art or anything like that, they are still working on that. But again, Pixie Hollow will not be cut, and neither will the attraction.

Well, that's it for now. I may call some other time to find some more info. But yeah, this was all I could retrieve. Let's hope for the best in this expansion! :sohappy:

And they just told you this?

So much for me emailing, calling, PMing, AIMing anyone I know for information, I should just call WDI and ask for info.

:lookaroun

Just a wee bit skeptical, sorry.

Well, they pretty much said things we already knew really.

Still, I don't see them just handing down solid info like that. Especially stuff that's been talked about en mase on forums like these.

Hey, if you are right, you are right, we will see in due time. :D And I'll need Frank's number.

Thanks for the info. Did Frank happen to mention what his role/title is?

No problem. No, when I was transferred to him the lady said that his name was Frank.

And who's Rhonda Kendall. I don't think I should give out the number to keep confidentiality. But just saying, I don't know they guy personally. Just called WDI and they transferred me to him, and I specified that I was simply a fan and that I was looking for more info about the expansion, so he went on to answer my questions. But as you say, time will tell. :)

Lolz, yeah, I know, hard to believe, but it's really not that much info that we didn't already know. I mean, it was seriously that easy. I just called said I'm a fan that wants to know more info about the expansion and they transferred again and again until I talked to the person mentioned. I mean, I'm just typing what the person told me. But I understand I would not have believed it either. Haha.

Ok guys, settle down. I don't see any reason to go all yeah-right on the poster here. Seems true. Plus if you're going to fake something, you'd make up something much much better. This ain't no Rhonda situation. Now... Push the Button, Frank.

I agree, he got passed around from office to office until he got a PR man that regurgitated already known information.

They know better than to upset a potential guest.

I think this is awesome! And funny too.

You deserve a pat on the back for doing an end run around all the rest of us who never would have thought to just ring up WDI in Glendale and ask to speak to someone about an upcoming project! It's so simple that it's brilliant.

You may not have gotten top-secret intel, but you very clearly got some questions answered and some info straight from the horses mouth. And again, you did it by just being honest and polite and calling the place up and asking to speak to someone. Bravo! :sohappy:
