Illuminations & The overall atmosphere. Just something about walking around hotels, parks, queues, and ESPECIALLY the walk from The Swan & Dolphin to DHS. First you go through the boardwalk and then you go along a sidewalk right next to the lake/river that transports guests to and from EPCOT, Swan & Dolphin, Boardwalk, DHS, etc. One evening around 7 PM we were walking to DHS from the Swan to catch the last showing of Fantasmic for the night after a great dinner and it was like heaven. The pathway lamps, the water right next to us, the lights of the boardwalk behind us, the spotlights from DHS in the sky that you can even see from MK, and we were lucky enough to hear the first Fantasmic performance of the night while we were walking by the park. Thats not the only atmosphere I like, just one of my favorites. I can go on and on about different atmospheres around WDW... it's just simply amazing.

Of recent memory, the answer is The Magic, the Memories, and You. It's an incredible show that showcases awesome technology. It also proves that when Disney is on top of it's game, nothing is better.

Which is why their blunders get so much flack from people, myself included. Disney sets the bar high, and it's disappointing when they peddle crap like Countdown to (no) Fun on us.

Hoop de doo! Also space mountain. It is such an iconic ride that completely changed the MK in 1975. It was really a game changer and at the time was a one of a kind type of roller coaster. Even to this day it holds ts own for uniqueness

the experience you get watching the castle show followed by wishes where main street usa meets the circle in front of the castle. just standing there with my family, no matter how often we do it, is what disney is all about!!! thats a huge win for me. its amazing, but for me its not the big rides, but the feeling this experience gives me each time. awesome win!

main street electrical parade. i know it doesn't get too much love, but to me, that screams disney. <3

and bringing us the audio animatronic. i don't care whether it's the old wicked witch of the west in the great movie ride, or mr potato head (i've only seen him on a you tube video but he looks awesome!) from TSMM, nothing beats a disney audio animatronic.

Thank you so much for this thread!:) I was reading some junk earlier about DDP and it just got crazy with people insulting each other....I realized after about 10 min. I had been sucked in reading everyone's neg. opinions and it actually started making me think twice about how I felt about WDW in general.... I finally shook myself out of it and vowed to not let that happen again.....so again thank you.

I think what Disney has done right is a list that would take me awhile to compile and I am sure I would still leave things out..... overall they have created a MAGICAL atmosphere that allows my family and I to float on clouds for a week while we are there!:sohappy:

I love that everywhere you go in WDW you are immersed in the experience. The atmosphere is amazing and the cast members are so friendly and happy to help! Even the airport is so easy with the Magical Express. You quickly leave the everyday life behind as you enter WDW.

Some big wins for WDW are:
Splash Mountain
Haunted Mansion
Pirates of the Caribbean
Spaceship Earth
Soarin
Festival of the Lion King
Kilimanjaro Safaris
Toy Story Midway Mania

Wishes/Illuminations/Fantasmic are all the perfect way to end a day at the parks.

There is just no other place like it. I look forward to it like nothing else and it is harder to leave than anywhere.

Stuff that WDW does best compared to other parks-

- Splash Mountain
- Spectromagic (compared to other night time parades)
- Magic Memories and You
- Tower of Terror
- New Pooh queue
- Haunted Mansion (2007 and later, most of it anyways)
- Basically the entire resort franchise (especially the deluxe ones, but they're all great)
- Monorail system used as a legit transport system

Awesome stuff that WDW has other parks don't-

- Peoplemover (NEVER get rid of this great relaxing onlooker ride)
- Great Movie Ride (dated or not, i love it)
- All of World Showcase
- Living With the Land
- Spaceship Earth
- Animal Kingdom (just the park itself, the beauty of it)
- Expedition Everest (fully functional version, though this one is still fun)
- Dinosaur (see Everest description)
- Kilimanjaro Safaris
- Philharmagic

Also, if it counts, all of Future world pre-1996 or so (before the restructuring and closures). Epic win there.
