biggest toy on town

Can anyone tell me what the big, must have toy is in the US this Christmas? For that matter, what is it in the Uk - Beauty, MarkyM, any ideas? Should I be buying my nephew anthing to avoid the rush?

I think this is a year where there is no ONE "Big toy"...Harry Potter...Monster Inc...X-Box...Gamecube....all are ultra popular right now. I have a feeling these will be the big sellers for the holidays.

I agree with NowInc...although I can't say for sure since I don't have any kids and don't really know any kids....so, I guess I'm not of much help, am I?



I'm sure Beauty will have some great tips for the UK since she's got some children...

I don't think there is a "must have" toy this year, especially in light of recent events. I do agree with NowInc that the big sellers will be Harry Potter and the new game systems from Nintendo and...who's going out with X-box?...Is it Microsoft?

one reason I was asking was a storekkeper was telling me the big thing over there at the moment is this thing called Cybiko?
wondered if he was right, or just seeing my wallet as easy pickings!!

Yes...X-Box is microsoft...

Gamecube came out in the US today (2 weeks early)..by the end of the week we will see how well it sells and that will answer part of the question....

Really, I don't...well, unless you count some of the members around here...

Sometimes I think it'd be nice to have kids around though...especially at Christmas

A toy that is very popular around here is something called Bionicle. They are these little warrior guys that the kids can put together. I think they are made by lego. All the cool kids have them:animwink:

I believe the next "big" thing is a Cybiko (spelling) it's a bit like a kids PDA, handheld computer, organiser type thing. BUT I think its quite pricey. I'd go for a nice £5 book token - always a winner.
I'll have a scout around, althoughThunderbirds is making another comeback, but nothing can match the true wonder and genius that is "Captain Scarlet" (aaaah the Angels - phwoar!)

Oh yeah, If any one wants to send me a X-Box I will quite happily accept. Failing that, it copmes out over here on 14th March (2 weeks before my Birthday - ehhhxcelent)

According to my son (8) the big thing is Gamecube & X-Box....esp Luigi's Mansion for Gamecube. He also mentioned Gameboy Advance.

Fortunately, my son doesn't really expect to get one! My children learned a long time ago that Santa doesn't bring "hot" toys to our house! My son doesn't even have Gameboy advance yet...still too long a wait for them.
