Up until yesterday, I would have said Genie+, park reservations and park hopping restrictions but I am now going to say the closure of the path between Shades of Green and the Polynesian.
Let people wait in standby. We understand there will be a long wait for Tron or whatever. Let those who value riding pay with their time.
…I promise I won’t go on your lawn againI couldn't pick just one. I picked "other" officially though. The removal of Splash Mountain for sure is very unpopular so that might be #1 right now. Also the paid Genie+ lines. Or even having a fastpass/Genie+ line at all is bothersome to me. It just clogs things up in my opinion. There is no flow to the lines.
Lastly, Disney getting involved with some very unpopular political directions, which they seem to have scaled back on now, for now at least.
The way I read "ip billboard" is the half baked shoehorning that has taken over Dsneys mindset. There's really nothing wrong with ip, and yes, everything is an ip but you know that isn't the argument. The issue most have, myself included, is how badly they are using it from a placement standpoint. Hey frozen was inspired by Norwegian culture, Great! Shove it in the Norway pavilion! Instead of a well thought out mini land for what is Disneys biggest cultural hit since the renaissance era. We need Moana in the parks, Great! Lets throw a water garden in Epcot. The Guardians are popular, we have some space where energy was, Perfect! So, I'm sorry that you don't like to hear about the thought that the IP's might be a plus, doesn't mean that they shouldn't be there. Without them WDW would be a huge hotel resort with no other use.
I'm only going to address that one highlighted part. The Norway Pavilion was DEAD! It needed something to bring it back to life. With a lot of luck "Frozen" became a huge hit and even though the argument was that Frozen didn't really represent Norway, can you think of anything the would even come close to fitting in there. They did a huge change over with a very nice entrance plus M&G and still managed to keep the Norway feel with Trolls, etc. in the gift shop and the ride. The way I read "ip billboard" is the half baked shoehorning that has taken over Dsneys mindset. It's all about balance. And as of right now, there is very little creativity happening. Shoving an ip into a ride is a great way to get a boost with doing very little. I guarantee that if you throw Encanto or the Incredibles into imagination, instant lines. Does that make it the right move? Absolutely not. A new concept takes hard work and creativity. Something Disney just doesn't want to deal with right now.
It was hardly made up. All you had to do is go to it to see how few went there compared to the other ones. The ride was never much to begin with and the rest of it was a snore. If you want to really know if it was on it's last legs or if it had been successful Disney not only would not have done something, as people seem to think, on the cheap they wouldn't have done anything at all. Disney very seldom will change anything that is pulling its own weight. I guess that many things are left up to opinion and apparently you were a Norway Pavilion fan, but to me it was the saddest of any of the pavilions and my opinion was shared by many. They used the track from Maelstrom but it was hardly cheap to change all the show scenes into what is there now, plus add the village setup along side it. It needed help and it got it and only a few felt that it wasn't an improvement over the dreary place that preceded it.This feels like something you just made up.
Anyways, they didn't put Frozen in Norway because they needed something to improve Norway; they put it in Norway because they needed somewhere they could add a Frozen ride relatively quickly. And it made the pavilion significantly worse.
Of course it was dead. They let it sit and rot for decades. Can I think of something better? You bet I can. How about updating the ride around, I don't know, Norway. They could have made a great ride around Vikings and given frozen the attraction it deserves. That is the whole point of the IP debate. If they put frozen in Mexico right now, so now there's two, guess what? The pavilion is no longer a dead pavilion as you would say. But that doesn't make it ok. It's not the IP, it's how it is used. No, the point is that Frozen fits there perfectly. You refuse to acknowledge that because you are not able to see the bigger picture. Norway was left to rot, as you say, because no one was going to it, not the other way around. The comparison of putting it in Mexico would be the same thing is not even close to understanding the situation. So I am inclined to end this road to nowhere and go onto other things.Of course it was dead. They let it sit and rot for decades. Can I think of something better? You bet I can. At one point there was no IP in World Showcase. IMO that's when it was it's best. I would rather they go with the original plans then add IP everywhere. Add the Rhine River cruise, the Mt. Fuji coaster and the simulator ride in Japan. The World Pavillion is a caricature. The Frozen Ride is fine and gives families a reason to check out Epcot.
No, it's you who don't see the bigger picture. You say it fits perfect. Perfect for Norway or perfect for the IP, perfect for Disney? The way I see it, frozen deserved significantly more than an overlay in a small pavilion in Epcot. Disney shoved it in there to bring "life" to the pavilion as you say. And they succeed. But that doesn't mean it was the correct choice. You now have a crazy popular IP in a atrociously underbuilt area that was never designed for that amount of traffic. I get it, you hated Maelstrom. Frozen might loosely fit the theme of the pavilion, but it's a long stretch to perfect. No, the point is that Frozen fits there perfectly. You refuse to acknowledge that because you are not able to see the bigger picture.
We'll have to disagree on this one. If the ride was dead from the start, it should have been fixed 30+yrs ago. Again supporting that Disney took the cheap way out and seized an opportunity to shove an IP in with the least amount of work.Norway was left to rot, as you say, because no one was going to it, not the other way around.
I used this because you are locked on, IP brought life back to the pavilion. Of course it did. What you're missing is the point as to why so many don't like what's happening with IP. There are better ways, Disney is just too lazy to do it. That's why there is such a push for the live action remakes. Screw creativity and innovation, just look at the short term. The comparison of putting it in Mexico would be the same thing is not even close to understanding the situation.
While they're at it. Why not add a Snow White ride in Germany, a Mulan Ride in China and a Pinnochio ride in Italy? One final word on that topic. If Norway (the actual country) was concerned about it they haven't said anything because it has helped there tourist travel far more that what was there. There is basically nothing that can be put in the the place that even remotely connects with that part of the world. That is the big picture! On top of that when they decided to no longer help support the Pavilion they took a chance, and a very likely one at the time, that Norway would no longer have any presence in WDW. They got lucky and Disney found something that in overall opinion actually does make Norway look like a destination and now with no contribution to its existence, Norway lives on in WDW. How lucky can you get. The aren't concerned about Frozen being part of their pavilion, why the hell are you.

I know why Disney won't do it but why do so many Disney fans hate the idea of adding the original World Showcase attractions into Epcot. Like the Mt Fuji coaster and the Rhine River cruise.
Is it?I don't think fans are entirely against the idea, we're just being realistic since Disney will only build IP rides now lol
An IP ride is better than no ride at all.
