Biggest Mistakes in WDW

I went three times in a single school year back in 1998 and then I never went back until 2010, so my '10 trip was my first time on Soarin'. When I saw the LED sign that said "departing to California" I thought that they randomly showed different movies depending on the day / hour / or some random algorithm etc etc etc

I was sadly dissapointed when I became addicted to the world after that trip and this website

To me, the fact that Soarin' stuck to its California fly-over, I understand why they did it but I'd rather it be a fly-over of Florida, and, um, Disney World. I know that Florida is a lot of open space, but so is about 95% of America.

When I rode Soarin' I thought to myself, why did I come here when I could've gone to California, it seems much nicer.

Well, I'll be the first to say. I love Florida. But you'd be incredibly bored looking at a few clips of a beach or two, the Everglades, and then Disney World. That's all we have, haha!

I always liked the idea of Soarin' over the USA. Capture all the major cities and sights.

Good thing about Soarin' is it's incredibly interchangeable. New video, new ride programming and then we have a whole new ride.

Mistake was not building the Monorail as a major transportation vehicle around the resort and back and forth to the airport.

Tomorrowland= tomorrow?

hmmm... Toy Story takes place in present day
Lilo & Stitch takes place in present day
Monsters Inc takes place in a present day fantasy world.

Yes, "tomorrow".

Should just call it "cartoon spaceland and monster show"

If you want to fixate completely on "tomorrow" there's plenty of room under that bus to throw the Carousel of Progress too. By comparison Space Ranger Spin, Laugh Floor and Stitch all show far more futuristic technology that the Carousel.

OR is it exempt from theming complaints because it holds Internet Fan Favorite Gold-Level status?

Monsters Inc Laugh Floor belongs in DHS

Toy Story Mania needs a re-theme to better suit Hollywood - maybe a Woody's Roundup western movie/TV set suction dart shooter?

Stitch was a horrible replacement for Alien Encounter. Maybe they could find a middle ground with Star Wars or something?

Soarin' is a fantastic ride but what I don't like is the path to get there, I wish there was a separate entrance outside, or at least a wait time display and fastpass machine outside.

LMA is pretty bad - I wish it could be themed around James Bond. Needs more cars doing jumps. Less talk, more action.

and last but certainly never least - the giant freakin HAT. It's a beautiful looking structure, it could look nice in a number of places including the animation resort.

Great call on LMA. Retheming it to anything would be better. (Wait. Scratch that. It's only a matter of time before it becomes Radiator Springs)

The long pauses between stunts in LMA are an unfortunate necessity. It takes time to re-set the stage and get it ready for the next stunt. The endless, extended "instant replays" are designed to keep you occuppied while that happens.

While I agree that the show has some long pauses in it, there's really very little that can be done about it, unfortunately.
Well, it could be leveled to make way for something, anything, that would make better use of that huge plot of land. The fact that the pauses are necessary to reset the stage is irrelevant. The show is even tedious when the actual lights, motors and action are on full display. It's easily one of my least favorite attractions in any of the parks.

And while we're on Hollywood Studios, I'm with the previous poster on the hat. That thing is an eyesore.

Chronicles of Narnia
possibly the worst waste of space in all of WDW! It was probably ok when the movie was coming out but come on, it's been almost 4 years!

SGE
I have to agree with previous posts. I never got to experience the Alien Encounter ride but I'm sure it was much better!

DinoLand
DH and I have not ventured into that area of AK since our very first visit! It is way too cheesey for Disney!

DDP
Don't get me wrong, I used to love the dining plan- BEFORE it became the most demanding part of my vacation! It's to the point now that everything has to revolve around when and where you are eating! Not to mention that the constant addirion of free dining makes it difficult to get into any table services and draws way too many people.

DTD
I remember the very first time I went to Downtown Disney! I was in awe! It was amazing to see so many Disney themed stores with all the Disney product! Not anymore! It's just like going to an outdoor mall here at home!

Vinylmation
I just don't get it! Pins, I get. They are small and detailed with your fave characters. Vinylmation is mickeys body painted like another character. Too weird for me but to each their own!

Since Soarin WDW has 2 theaters, maybe offer CA in 1 and FL in the other. I don't know if DL Soarin has 2, but if so, also offer choice there. It would be nice to offer flyover of another state or home state in each location.

Or have guests vote by hitting a button (CA or FL) while passing one at a time just before pre-board. Majority vote wins. Could even expand beyond CA and FL choices (ie. Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, or DLP, DLT, DLHK, etc)

NICE concept

-Making FANTASMIC! only a few nights a week. The show packs in the crowds and you're decreasing it's viewings? Maybe the wait for the first show wouldn't be over an hour for good seats if one could see it almost every night.

They show it twice every night every day now! But you still have to go in early to get good seats :dazzle:

I forgot about it LOL

It at least has the potential to flirt with tomorrow. A quick redesign of the final scene could fix it. Though I'd rather see the first scene be today, 2nd scene 50 years from now. 3rd scene 150 years from now, 4th scene 300 years from now...
