Big Top Canvas Rising Tonight

It originally opened in '88 as mickeys birthday land. Marketing for his 60th birthday. The land was built with the intent of it being temporary, but it was popular so they "repurposed" it in 1990 to Starland . And again in '96 to toontown fair. So, they were party tents, it never had a circus theme though it sure did look like it no matter how they repurposed it. Storybook Circus is finally a good fit. And yes, something Walt would like.

I know Birthdayland was just ment to be temporary, but didn't they originally have a long term plan for that site?

Thanks for the pics! I was there but didn't take pics. The goofy coaster was lit up last night with flashing red lights at the top of the coaster tower. It looked cool. And the tent looked fabulous the color of it is so royal in person.

Taking pictures from backstage is STRICTLY prohibited... If you are a CM, I hope you get fired.

While your reply is clearly rational and doesn't at all seem like over-reacting.. :zipit:

Anyone familiar with the area can look at that photo and tell you it's clear that it was taken from a road that any guest can drive down - NOT in a restricted area and not within the backstage gates of the Magic Kingdom. In fact you can cleary SEE the backstage gate TO the Magic Kingdom in that photo.

Perhaps it is you who should get fired from your high horse.

This along with the comment in a previous thread that you hoped the person taking photos over the wall would "fall and break their arm" should get you banned. Wishing harm on another because you have some strange moral obligation to protect construction progress? Way over the line. People get banned here for spouting nonsense.

Only the biggest fans are fascinated with seeing what is happening. The big fans are the most loyal and spend the most money. There aren't any laws being broken.

I know EXACTLY where the picture was taken, and CM's are still CLEARLY prohibited from posting pictures from that area..

You're missing the point entirely. ANY guest can access the area that photo was taken. Nothing about it requires that it came from a CM.

Seriously - I rarely ever actually log in to post on here. *That's* how ignorant your comment was, as others have pointed out as well.

And honestly - my reasoning for pointing out where it was actually taken was not to help *you* become better informed - based on your posts in the past I couldn't care less whether or not you gain education on the subject matter. I posted it so people NOT familiar with the area wouldn't be fooled by your ridiculous, over the top comment and be able to see that there actually was nothing wrong with the photo in the first place.

Just to be clear, I didn't take this picture, just found it on Twitter.

I'm sure Disney isn't going to be overly upset about some photos of tents being taken. Just as I'm equally certain no CM is going to lose their job over posting them, if this was indeed the case. Some indeed seem to enjoy going to the negative extremes....

Ya that was me that he was referring to about breaking my arm and my camera. I'm glad a few of you saw that before the mods deleted it. 71 should be banned. All he/she does is hope that people get trespassed and fired. 71 is the only person that doesn't appreciate construction photos. I'm not a believer in the ignore list, but 71 became the first person on mine.

This is a service road behind MK. Go down that road a little further then you are in backstage. To say that this is something terrible draws logic that you have fallen off the Disney rocker.
I seem to recall Walt actually showing the public how everything was made and got people excited about projects. The same thing we're doing here.

And yet, EXTREMELY appreciated, and quite common.
Nothing more fun than posting "prohibited". Maybe I'll post something myself...
Go Ahead. Prove It..... heh :lookaroun

Yes. I'll take this time to thank you again for all the photos you contribute.
