Big Top Canvas Rising Tonight

This should add to a more completed look pretty quickly. I am a little curious as to why they have focused on Pete's Silly Side Show tent first. I guess the other tent should be covered within the next week.

Personally, I think that tent is going to house Big Top Souvenirs, with Pete's Silly Sideshow taking up residence in the larger tent next door.

Lee posted a portion of the blueprints in this post that shows that the big tent will be Sideshow Souvenirs and the smaller tent "Storybook Circus Meet and Greet". I am still wondering if the small tent will actually be Pete's Silly Sideshow or if that is something that will come later.

It's funny that we are excited at the replacement of this:

I would rather have a land based around the 4th Disney animated feature, and one of Walt's favorites than Mickey's Birthday Land. Sure, Toontown makes sense, the company was formed around those characters, but in a DL kind of way. We never really did it right, I felt. Half leftover tents, half houses, might as well go all the way with the circus theme.

I think the original motivation for this area of the park was basically just the fact that they needed another train station, because at one point there were plans for a train station in Tomorrowland but that got nixed

And I'm not certain about this, but I though there may have been a circus theme for this spot originally, because the whole "Birthadyland/Starland/Toon Town Fair" thing all came after the plans for Roger Rabbit's Toon Town in the Studios fell through. I do know that Walt Disney wanted to have a circus themed area around Dumbo in Disneyland when they remodeled Fantasyland there in the 60's, and Storybook Circus was inspired by that concept

It originally opened in '88 as mickeys birthday land. Marketing for his 60th birthday. The land was built with the intent of it being temporary, but it was popular so they "repurposed" it in 1990 to Starland . And again in '96 to toontown fair. So, they were party tents, it never had a circus theme though it sure did look like it no matter how they repurposed it. Storybook Circus is finally a good fit. And yes, something Walt would like.

I will reserve judgement on that until I find out more about the train station.

From what we've heard, from the concept art, the construction, etc., I have a feeling that this area is going to really be quality. I don't think it'll be even close to the level down where Toontown was (even though I liked Toontown!)

He secretly hopes like me that it contains something like an Aladdin dark ride on the same level of hp fj

Yeah that would be nice! Perhaps they have secretly installed a ride system in the Utilidors! :lookaroun

You are close in a way though. I am hoping it funtions as a means to place guests in a 'time and place' as the other two train stations do. The old train station was of the quality you might find at a small independent amusement park and was not of Disney quality to say the least. So I am hoping for something on a scale between the MSUSA station and the Frontierland station that creates an equally immersive experience. Or possibly surpasses the other two stations.

I have some possibilities in mind of what they may do but will wait for the first reviews before I praise or pan the new addition. Should be soon.

There will be restrooms. He could go in there and sing one of the songs from Aladdin and image he is on HPFJ. :)

Wrong movie.

Have restrooms been confirmed? Hopefully there is room for a real train station and not just restrooms and a place to rent wheelchairs.

I believe Lee confirmed the restrooms and it is a logical place to put them. I assume the "round house" section will be the restrooms.

That would work as it will still allow them to have a well themed 'lobby' that guests will pass through to enter this area of Fantasyland. They do need restrooms in this area of the park but it would be good if they are not the entire reason they are rebuilding the station.
