Big Thunder Mountain Refurb?

Here's an idea though, replaced the bats on string with some funky coloured projection effects of bats flying around.
Might look more dynamic and realistic.
And you just described my only pet peeve with BTMR. It's pretty obvious they're on piano wire.

But the projections? I will still take the string bats anyway. At least they're more realistic than moving pictures.:lol:

Anamatronic Bats....They could move like projections yet have the oldschool BTM feel.

Are they really? Unless you got some self hovering AAs the only way to get physical sculptures to move as if they were flying is to hang them from the ceiling.

At least the projections could move up, down and around without any strings and carefully placed mirrors and projection surfaces could really make a good dizzying effect.

Edit: Also how much money do you think Disney s going to spend on several dozen tiny AAs, and what happens when they all break down?

True that.

But I guess it's easier (and more realistic IMHO) for the bats to stay there.

Just somehow make it less obvious they're fake.

Really? I think it adds to the ride!
I always liked it, especially when you are heading through the dark mine towards the waterfall. Something about it makes it creepier, makes the whole runaway mine train that much more intense.

I agree I really like it too and it does add to the ride. I always thought they purposely made it loud somehow.

Considering SMs lifts could be a lot quieter when it reopens there is a strong possibility BTMs would be next.

Search is your friend.

Sorry, it's posts like this that really destroy any good will on these boards. :fork:

Come on, this is a discussion board. If you don't have anything to add, just don't add any negative posts. Totally useless.

Wait, I guess this post is ussless as well.. nevermind. :drevil:

Move along, nothing to see here.

The lift system on El Toro in Six Flags Great Adventure is amazing!! its quiet and extremely fast. You get up 200 feet in about 7 seconds. It makes it fun also. But i see the point of having that rickety old feeling you get from a loud bumpy lift system. Like Epcot Explorer says,
Well, they could always track it in through the BGM/Sound effects
They could do that!

In all fairness, it keeps discussions ongoing and ensures they arn`t clogged with the same topic.

Quick question that you might know. For the quiet anti roll back system are we looking at new trains, track modifications, train modifications or a combination of those elements?

When I worked on BTM last year, there were already rumors for a year or two going around the CMs that we were due for a refurb in 2010-2012, depending on the source. The said we were looking to get EE's track/lift system/breaks (which ripping on the whole track would sound redic, except didn't they do that before on other coasters? Like SM in DL and Matterhorn?).
-Nicholas, who likes the noises from the lift, but would like them a little bit more slightly quieter.
