What has someone suprised you with in the parks or otherwise? Has anyone ever done something for you during your disney stay that really took you by suprise and made the vacation more spectacular for doing so?

Well, it's not a major one, but I thought it was really nice... when I went to CRT for breakfast on my birthday, all the princesses came over to my table at once and I got a group photo with them. I know it can be tough for them all to jump out of rotation to do that, so I thought it was really nice of them to do something unexpected like that. :)

Last time I took my Mother to Disney World, we caught the Dapper Dans doing one of their sets on Mainstreet. After the show we chatted to them and found out when they would be back on later in the day.

We turned up to that show and watched the set, after which Neel Tyree stayed out and continued to chat with us (Mother being an old pro of the stage). He stayed out all the way through his break between sets and only stopped as he had to go back and perform.

It was a pleasant surprise that Neel took the time to give up a break and stay onstage all that extra time.

Right after my wife and I graduated law school, we headed to Disney for the week. Waiting for us at our room when we arrived was a basket her brother had sent us that included, among other things, a bottle of wine and mickey wine glasses. We still have the glasses. The wine didn't last 30 minutes.

Thanks for the thread topic and for bringing back that memory. :)

I was surprised with my best friend in the middle of Toontown. One of my last days of my first CP, he flew down, tracked me down and appeared in the street in Toontown when I was bringing Goofy out for his last set of the day at the Barnstormer. I was so shocked! My whole family knew he was coming, but I was so surprised! It was one of the best surprises ever! He and I are both huge Disney fans, so it was so much fun to spend a day in the MK with him and my family (who came down a couple days later to pick me up).

My husband proposed to me the last day of our vacation in 2002! He had to hold it in the whole 12 days we were there! He was so relaxed after he popped the question. He was very nervous all week. So guys, a little advice, if you are planning on popping the question, do it earlier in the vacation so you can enjoy it!

Here's my big surprise that hasn't happened yet. We usually always go to WDW in June and then in Oct. Something came up this year and we didn't make our Oct. trip. My 2 oldest kids were upset but understood. We told them that we would try to go again next year, maybe. WELL, my wife and I made reservations for Dec. 17-23 along with MVMCP on the 17th. We are not going to tell the kids anything!!! We are going to secretly pack their bags, pick them up from school that day and say, "Guess What? Merry Christmas, you're going to Disney World". THis is the first time we have surprised them with anything like this!!! :xmas:

Unfortunately this didn’t happen to me it happened to my oldest daughter when her grandparents took her to Disney for her birthday. They were booked to stay at the Polynesian, when the arrived they mentioned that is was the little one’s birthday. They were upgraded to the best suite in the place. When they arrived back from MK later that day there was a birthday cake and balloons waiting for them in the room. Only at Disney!

The last time we evacuated for a hurricane, we flew to Disney to avoid the traffic on the roads. But we didn't tell our son that was where we were going - he just knew that we were boarding up the house and leaving to go somewhere safe. I woke him up in the morning and told him that school was cancelled because the storm was headed toward us and that we were going to pack up and leave. Once we were in the car on the way to the airport I handed him a Disney lollipop and he asked "are we going to Disney World?" - he was so excited and it was a great little getaway for us since he was off school and my husband was off work because of the storm. So it wasn't really a planned surprise, it was last-minute, but it was still a big surprise to my son and really a surprise to all of us.

I wish my parents did the same thing to me when I was growing up. They took us about every weekend but they always told us in advance. A surprise like that would have been great. So I take it that this is your first MVMCP? If so, you will have a blast. I have been going since I can remember and have always had a blast.

a yr ago my husband surprised me with a stay at the Polynesian
which was my first time to stay in that hotel
he knew I've always wanted too :)

We went from the all star resort
I thought we were going to just walk around the hotel and
get a bite at Ohana and then look for a hotel
outside of the parks but we stayed and just spent
2 days enjoying the hotel and the pool:D

No actually we went back in 2000, but it was a very quick business trip. We got to go to MVMCP, but only briefly visited the other parks to see the Christmas decorations. This trip will be totally dedicated to the kids and what they want to do!!! I have to say though, I am about to bust with excitement, but I have to keep it in!?!?!? :zipit:

This trip we are surprising my parents with an upgrade to a Grand Villa at BWV instead of all individual rooms. Each trip I do some surprises, anything from not telling I was able to book the castle for breakfast to an Illuminations cruise or scavenger hunt through the park. I also have surprise presents from the characters in the room each night.

Adding to the magic makes the trip more magical for me.

The wishes cruise was fun too. Have you ever tried that one?

I tried to surprise my daughter like that a few years ago....it didn't work. I told her we were dropping my parents off at the airport and she was grumpy beyond belief because I made her get out of bed. At the airport, my Mom tried to hand her $50 to go shopping with and my daughter was still so grumpy she said no. Then I finally said well I guess you won't have any money in WDW and pulled her suitcase out of the back of the car. THEN she smiled, but too late she had made her grandparents ill as hornets with her grumpiness. We still ended up having a great trip!

I tell her far in advance now that we are going.
