Hello, all! I know I do not post too often, but I do consider some of you friends and I need all the advice you can give me....

We just found out we're expecting!!

Now, while this last week has been nothing but stress (especially given that I have had no Internet at work, and, therefore, can not communicate with you all), I need to begin re-planning for our trip now. (Yes, thank the OCD gods for this! LOL)

Anywho, I will be approximately 3.5 months along by the time our trip comes. I know I should have no problems traveling, but I am more anxious about the rides. For those of you who don't remember - I love roller coasters - esp. the ones at WDW. So, that being said (and please remember I have two children already) - should I attempt RNRC and EE or just forget they exist during the trip?

I am up for any advice you guys can give me. Just so you know, I DO NOT do the teacups or any ride like that and I'm pretty sure BTMRR and SM won't be too jarring (well, maybe Space will....). So, feel free to respond, PM me or whatever - I'm open to any and all ideas!

PS - doesn't it just suck now that I won't be able to have a delicious margarita from Mexico? AND that I can't have any wine from the F&W festival? Oh well - I can always go back (hey, the baby will be free for two years! LOL)

Personally I wouldn't risk anything that could potentially harm my baby, or put my pregnancy at risk. I miscarried once and it was the most heatbreaking experience I have ever had. WDW will still be there after your baby is born!

Congratulations..:)

I would say no RNRC or EE I also would not do Space or Thunder or Splash..It is better to be safe then sorry and you never know...

I think all the coasters or rides with hills or drops or fast movements will not be something you should attempt..I know I would not...

No matter what you will have the best time anyway...without the coasters and the wine and margaritas..:)

I agree..I have had a few and if I could possibly prevent something like that from happening I would do all that I could..

Alright South Jersey! Congratulations!

I wouldn't take the risk. Forget that the thrill rides ever existed. Plus, next time you go back, you will have more excitement to ride them.

Congratulations! I wish you all the best.

One way to insure "all the best" is to forget RNRC & EE and any and every thrill ride even exist. I would think maybe...MAYBE...within the first month, when there's so little development...MAYBE riding a rollercoaster or thrill ride wouldn't be as much of an issue. But even then, I wouldn't be 100% sure. At 3.5 months, you're already playing with fire if you do it.

Expectant mothers should of course exercise and try to stay healthy, and you're bound to be in situations where you have to exert yourself more than you perhaps should. But a thrill ride, seriously, isn't one of those situations. Really, it's risky behavior that borders on abusive, the same as if you went on a drinking binge, and you've made it clear you don't intend to take a chance THAT way.

Give your fella a thrill, get a FP and give it to him so he can ride twice.

A rollercoaster ride lasts a few minutes. Your kid will hopefully last much longer. Knock on wood, if something did happen that made your child developmentally disadvantaged (nice PC term, isn't it?) how awful would you feel wondering if riding Space Mountain or EE had something (everything?) to do with it?

Many congratulations on your forth coming event.

If I were you I'd skip the rides on this occasion - there's plenty of time for that once babys born

Congratulations from one Jersey girl to another. I would definately skip the "thrill" rides this trip and just focus on the kiddie rides. You will have plenty of time after the baby is born, after all you will have to make a return trip to the world for the newest family member or it just wouldn't be fair:D !

I would talk to your doctor. It really depends on you and your body. We went with another family once and the wife was pregnant. Her doctor told her that since her body was so used to rides that at her stage (also about 3.5 months), it wouldn't harm her. He just told her to leave a little extra space in the lap bar so it wasn't completely pressing on the baby. Her and baby were fine through it all and the child is going to be 6 in a few months. So, if you want to be completely safe then don't ride, but you can ask your doctor and see what they say.

No offense at all...but I think that your friends Dr. is crazy!:brick:

Her body was so used to rides..(which is weird to say anyway) but her body was not used too rides while pregnant so there is a big difference.

Just not pulling the lap bar down all the way is not good enough..there are other things that could hurt the baby besides the pressure of a bar...

Miscarriages can happen so easily and to even risk it just a little bit for a 2 minute ride is so not worth in in my opinion.

Congratulations! I agree with everyone - stay off the thrill rides! It's just not worth the risk - your little one deserves the best chance he can get.

I have kind of a unique perspective on this. My wife did not know that she was pregnant with our 3rd daughter until she was more than 4 months into her pregnancy. In that 4 months she had been on every ride at WDW, Sea World, US and IOA, been drunk once and fell down a flight of stairs (yes same night:D ). After finding out she was pregnant she spent every second of the next 4 months worrying about if our daughter was going to be OK and how utterly devastated she would be if she did, even unknowingly, hurt our daughter. Now Riley turned out fine and we can joke about her being such a thrill ride junkie because she had ridden so many coasters before she was born but nothing was worth that 4 months of worry and sleepless nights. So my opinion don't risk it the payoff is not worth the price.

First off Congrats, and like others have said, I'd have a talk with your doctor to see what rides you should, and shouldn't do. Have fun

I also want to wish you congrats on the new arrival!

I think the biggest thing... would be to consult your DR but also do what you feel is best and within your comfort zone.

I understand the risks of thrill rides, but I also know people that practically lived in a bubble during there preg, followed all the rules, and still lost their child.

There will always be a what-if, and everyone is different, both mentally and physically. I think you need to do what you feel most comfortable with. If it was me, I think I would still hit TT, SplM, Soarin, ToT, and a few others, but avoiding the big ones like SM and EE. Again though... That would be my comfort zone, and what I personally felt I was capable of doing while expecting. Different strokes for different folks.

Just think though, even if you decide not to go on the rides, you can purchase a bunch of adorable park infant clothes to pass the time... woot!

just to repeat what has been said 10 times above. ask the DR. but i would not chance it. there are still plenty you can do with out the roller coaster. yes it does suck not being able to ride them but you know you will be back some day again. heck my wife has been pregnant the past 3 out of 4 times we have been there. if that keeps up i will never go back to disney. 4 kids are enough.

Congrats my South Jersey neighbor!!! I would have to say skip them and go back to Disney World and do them when your able to...It may be awhile because you have to wait until the kiddies get a little older.... Im sure you will still have a great time.

Thank you guys so much! I appreciate all the advice and will definitely take it "under advisement". I actually have a midwife (better than a dr in my opinion) and I meet with her for the first time on Wednesday. I will talk to her then and see what she feels is best (and, yes, I will heed her advice! LOL)

Thanks for all the congrats - needless to say, this is unexpected and turned my last week upside-down (kind of like the Cheshire Cat!). I understand what most of you are saying that the thrill rides will be there when I go back, BUT as someone else said - if I lived in a bubble the whole time I was pregnant, I would have major issues. Heck, I drive I-95 every day - that alone is more dangerous than any thrill ride (and I was in an accident there when pregnant with my son).

I will post again on one of the other forums when we get back so I can let you all know if I got sick on everyone on even the tamest of rides! LOL

I disagree with the poster who said you could ride TT and ToT..NO WAY in the world should you ride a ride that jerks you like TT and drops repeatedly like TOT...

Also to the you cannot live in a bubble thing...I think that while you are pregnant..you should and do have to take certain precautions that you do not have to while you are not pregnant.

No one is staying to stay home and lay with your feet up the whole time but if you can do things that could prevent you from not having something happen then by all means you should not do them.

There are warning signs on these rides for a reason..so follow them..like I said earlier it is just a 2 minute ride and if you can prevent something that could affect your baby then by all means do it..it is that simple.

I dunno. IMO, most of the rides at Disney are no more intense than a bumpy car ride. I would avoid Space, Thunder, Everest, RNR, and Mission Space, but the rest, I dunno.

I think the most intense things I've done pregnant are log flume rides (like Splash Mt).
