lmao!

I love how we're comparing KJS to JP.

:sohappy:

I'm waiting for the day a gorilla tries to make an escape into the KJS. :lookaroun CHAOS.

Thanks for the info! I never knew the exact setup of the Big Red scene. That explains why there's kind of a dead zone (no pun intended) in that area now. What a crazy idea haha...

The whole thing with the CM stationed out in the show scene holding the rifle on the poachers still cracks me up. Especially when it would be some willowy young girl...

Hey I was once one of those "willowy young girls"! That was my favorite position. We used to try and weasle our way into getting that position. We had a special hat and everything.:D I was known as The JC Penny Warden because I always had my hair fixed just so and had a special stance.

I think the "low-tech" atmosphere is the draw of Kilimanjaro. Anything visible that takes that "feel" out of the experience is not going to be an improvement IMO. I love the CM's interaction!

I have spoken to a few drivers who have all consistently said that, while some see the story as a little hokey and heavy handed, it actually hits quite well with a surprising number of people.

"After crash landing his spaceship in the wild continent of Africa, Stitch learns the value of the circle of life..."

Anywhere EXCEPT the Tiki Room! :fork:

I am not sure where I fall on the Pro or Negative side when considering the Poacher story line.....

I do enjoy the safari though!

They are removing the poaching at the end. Now as you round the corner the ending is a little more breathtaking and climactic. I think it ties all of AK together nicely:

It's interesting to me that some people say just riding around looking at animals isn't enough of a story, when that's the exact plot of the Jungle Cruise (with a few wacky natives thrown in). There's no narrative development on the JC, you're just looking at stuff (and remember that Walt's original idea for that attraction was to use live animals). Is it a less interesting story if the animals you're passing happen to be real?

It needs more LCD screens and maybe a 3D shooting scene or two....with Stitch....and Buzz.....maybe Nemo.......and a princess or two.

Absolutely, character integration is missing throughout Animal Kingom. The lack of characters here, in Everest, Khali River Rapids, etc. is why this park's attendance hasn't surpassed MK's yet. A few scattered Donald's, Goofy's and Mickey's and DAK is set!

I think Goofy should drive the jeeps, Donald should be the guide and Hewey. Dewey and Louie should roam the savannah as "poacher patrol".

Yes, and why can't the story just be you're going off on a safari in Africa for "two weeks"? No one is suggesting the safari company not have a name, the vehicles be plain jeeps, or anything else like that. Embarking on a well-themed safari is story enough- there's no need for a badly contrived, shoe-horned poacher plot. Especially in a park like DAK where everything is supposed to be different to begin with.

I'm all for back stories when they're done well. The KS poachers are not done well, and it comes across poorly. When you have a poorly done back stories, just for the sake of having a back story, you end up with that Chester and Hester's Dinoramo crap they peddled on us, trying to insist the cheap look was all intentional the whole time.

Exactly, and not all the rides in the parks have stories (and some are clearly contrived to conform to the idea they need a story). It's ridiculous to think that in order to enjoy KS you need a back story, because an African Safari isn't exciting enough. The story is contrived and pointless. "I'm going on a safari" is all the backstory that is required.

Please no characters. Please. We are transported to different worlds in AK. Not to be surrounded by Mickey and them in Africa.

My 2 cents:
More backstory, please. I dig it.:D

Automated speil? No thanks.

I want an adventure, not a ride through a zoo.
