I can't imagine that's accurate. That thing is a revenue generator and has to be a priority for management. This is clearly evident as it is the first part of the Communicore buildings that they demo'd.

In Chicago, we build 50 story skyscrapers in half that time with big-government red tape and union overlords.

I believe that it was said to be opening in phases since it's multi-level.

I love when I take a break for the boards and come back. I miss little nuggets like this... They are opening a non-ambitious festival center in phases? 🤣🤣🤣

Opening SW:GE in phases is questionable... but a building? Laughable

It shouldn't take them as long as it has to build rides/restaurants either (missing their supposed opening dates by months and months), but here we are.

I'm not 100%, but I do believe I remember hearing that from someone credible. The lower level is supposed to be a pretty basic flex space while more detail and care will be needed on the top level.

I would imagine it'll be a 1, 2, 3 thing, with the top level being last to open. That's all just a guess on my part though. In order to reach the top level, the lower level would need to be ready for guests, so it makes sense that it be ready first. It's hard to imagine Disney not taking advantage of covered flex space as soon as possible.

That really makes no sense. Even if you could somehow convince Reedy Creek to issue a series of temporary occupancy permits, you want your building envelope to be complete before occupancy. A floor is not a roof so you’re wasting resources trying to build a level at a time. They could stagger interior fit out like an office building but that just delays those other areas as they are not going to have noisy work occurring inside during park hours.

All of this about the festival center brings up a good point...there's very little in the way of predicted openings for these additions across property. Did Disney plug some holes or did we lose our insiders? In the past we would have a better idea when things like the front entrance would be done by now.

Major construction isn't in phases. Areas being open and ready for guests will be, from what I understand. Made sense to me, guests can't access the roof if they're still putting details on the ground floor (EDIT: which requires way less detail, I wanted to add).

Unfortunately for us, the rise of the vloggers who use posts on this forum as uncredited sources for their own channels has led to our insiders being much more guarded in what they post.

That is just one reason why we hear less from some of our insiders.

Looks like the eastern loop is now ready. The western is available and should be open permanently soon if it isn't already. Next step is to completely wall off the central plaza for rebuild. Who knows maybe even by the weekend. 🎉🎇🎊

Too bad they can't save the fiber optic stones from in front of Innoventions West. At least would be cool if they could build a better version for the new garden area if they are not salvageable or maybe somewhere near the Land or Seas areas.

That's very true. I was just repeating what I was told, I'm not an insider nor have I ever said that (if anything I have always said the opposite, like right now). I just wanted to make that clear in case someone was misreading what I wrote.

I was simply recalling information from someone that I trust and did so in a news and rumors thread. ;) Luckily, this is a project that was already announced and the debate is simply over when it will be ready to open, pretty minor thing in my opinion. In this case, at least.

They're quite worn at this point but I can't imagine it'd be difficult to make a new version. It's "just" some fiber optics embedded in concrete blocks. Not too much to them but it's obvious they mean a lot considering how often they get brought up. I still think they're really neat.

They were always a highlight for me on the way out, with the music playing...

I feel silly asking this but, are the Pixie Dust tiles made with fiber optics embedded in cement, too? They look like micro bulbs or light coming through tiny holes.

I guess Pixie Dust tiles are going away too? I took this picture last December, just in case. Thanks! :)
