Buena Vista Street has a whole bizarre overlay that includes Disney characters and plays on the Disneyfication of Disney history.

Mystic Manor was built to appease the majority owner of its park.

Pretty much, yes. And Iger was wrong. His impression of theme parks ("stupid entertainment for stupid people", "some generic coaster themed to India or something") shows he doesn't have the first clue as to what they are about. To him, it's about "riding the movies" and being inundated by movie IP to remind you to buy something.

Not sure about the first statement since I've never been to that park. But, WOW, I LOVE Mystic Manor from watching videos online. It's a special take on a dark ride and Disney needs to use that kind of imagination here in the states!

Well, I didn't necessarily say it was a direct quote... But it's so spot-on, it may as well have come right out of his mouth.

It's definitely clear from Iger's statements that he doesn't understand the appeal of theme parks. It's why he had no business making so many decisions about them.

It's also why much of the more recent additions/changes have come under such scrutiny. If you don't understand the appeal of something, how can you effectively deliver it?

As part of the EPCOT 'upgrade,' the things that were meant to be and not part of an existing movie IP:

• New films in Land, Canada, China
• New restaurants: one in Japan, 220, and the EU replacement
• New shop: Creations
• New show fountain
• Dreamers point
• Most of the upgrade of Spaceship Earth
• New entrance package
• New lights on SSE
• Festival tower building area

So far, Disney's takeover of Morocco is no added IP.

Not sure if you’re trying to make some point here. None of those are even a new ride, never mind a big-budget headliner. There’s no denying that Everest is the last original ride and Bob Chapek and co. have no faith in something original to pull crowds (despite original movies being made).

But yeah, wow, the lights have no movie IP!

Big Grizzly Mountain, Roaring Rapids, and Jet Packs are the other three, any of which you could’ve named instead of Buena Vista Street, which is definitely not a ride!
