News Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

That was called Project Gemini, I believe. Interesting concepts....not too keen on them though. Anything that rips out Spaceship Earth for a roller coaster is no good in my book.
I think the Time Racers ride was the only thing I didn't like about Gemini... it added a lot of kinetci movement throughout the park, LOTS of new rides and attractions, and would have made the park feel a little more finished...but I do agree that touching Spaceship Earth would be bad....

That figure was mentioned yes.
Thanks. Just checking.

now 350 million doesnt seem like nearly enough if FEA just cost 120 million....
If that budget has not increased and it cost that much for FEA, then I can't really see too many more significant attraction changes although they will likely improve some stuff.

Seems more like we will get a whole lot of smaller attraction changes, shops, eateries, etc.

The problem was admitted two or three years ago I'm glad to say. I'm just a little surprised in the.... scale of some of the solutions.
damn now I am all giddy, any idea on when we will see an announcement on this? Or when you may be able to to give us poor souls some details.

@marni1971 - Could you say if the plans for EPCOT tie into the plans for DHS (i.e. a "connection") (without going into any detail)? You can answer "yes", a definite "no", "maybe", "it's possible", "it's impossible", "time will tell", "it's been discussed", "I'm not at liberty to discuss this", "if I tell you, I'd have to kill you", "that's a separate possible project", or "I don't know".

Not that I know of.

If Disney comes through with this, I take back half my recent criticism about the company! :)

With all these big projects being approved all of a sudden, this is no Mickey Mouse operation!

I think people are getting way too ahead of themselves. It's great that @marni1971 has hinted about plans in the works, but it sounds like they are probably in flux and far from finalized. IMHO, we are probably not going to hear about anything officially until D23 in summer 2017 and anything new that is built won't be until 2019-20 at the earliest. Maybe we'd see a re-theme of an existing ride in the meantime (on the scale of Frozen Ever After) at best.

I think we will see some things sooner but the meat is certainly 19-20ish.

If we don't hear anything for over a year, then we won't see ground break until 2018 which means we are far, far off from change.

I must say though it is nice to hear that people are talking. But that's really what's going on. People talking.

Disney can break ground and start construction before making an official announcement. Of course, if any build involves replacing an existing ride, there would be questions asked and rumors once the old ride closes.

I'd like to think that worst case scenario would involve a D23 announcement and great breaking soon thereafter.

He specifically said he was blown away by the scale of the project. This was my reaction as well when I saw what they were planning with DHS. The budget here is a fraction of what the DHS budget is, but it's the same as what RSR at DLR cost. EPCOT already has all the infrastructure in place, so infrastructure rehabilitation that will not have to be done would come as a great savings for this project, allowing all of it to go into attractions. Buildings are also in place, so that's a huge savings too. My guess is that the project will bring new attractions to pavilions already in place such as Imagination and WoL.

That makes sense. If FEA cost $150 million for a pavilion already in place, two pavilions with $50 million left over is $350 million. That $50 million is enough to shoot a new film and include minor AA enhancements for UoE.

I hope they get a bit more than 350M but thats probably just being a little greedy. Im not sure 350M can cover the massive renovation of all of FW it'll cover probably 2 or 3 pavilions but besides that theres still some work with innovations and a general beautifying and landscaping of the area. Still though if our insiders are impressed by the scale than maybe i'll be surprised

Get a Horse is available on the Frozen Blu Ray
For the Birds is available on the Monster's Inc Blu Ray
La Luna is available on the Brave Blu Ray

I can watch all of these on my phone right now.
My point on "Get a Horse" was more to the content itself. It's almost made to be viewed in a theater with all the gags it has and I liked having that experience again. I do agree though that a new 3D movie specific to the park needs to be put in there.
