I think it's closer to say The Hatbox Ghost mystery went viral before that really was a thing, and in the early 2000's corporate got wind and caught the wave. Those of us who've been fascinated by him since the early days know it runs deeper than merch, but I can understand that the thing and what it's evolved into don't necessarily "do it" for everybody.

The hatbox thing was exciting to talk about during that haunted mansion referub they did back in 2007. Trotting him out now as a mega announcement is super weird. That was almost twenty years ago when people cared

And is easily and sadly happening because the movie is going to feature the character performed by Jared Leto.

I was confused with the announcement too because the hatbox ghost has been in the Disneyland version since like 2010 I think? And honestly it was kind of a letdown he’s super big and clunky and looks out of place. I don’t think it’s a perfect copy of the original from the photos the modern one looks weird

This is not a World Showcase pavilion. Geographically and culturally distinct attractions are put side-by-side all the time absent any sort of statement about "closely related lives", whatever that means. Areas like Adventureland and Fantasyland have always been about cosmetically enmeshing things even if they don't all spring from the same culture or mythology.
I understand that above and have no issues making German next British etc. That is not at all what I was having issues with. Read their post again. I take objection to pretending that we can lump sum in it a Fiesta (aka Spanish speaking land) and call it a day all while acting like Colombia is close to the American SW by way of it being similar to Mexico and just slapping it in Frontierland. Get more creative than that. If you cannot understand that, then just know that this is something that happens often. Look how many want Encanto in Mexico and understand why more care needs to be taken. A world of magic can be created without being so insensitive.

I think the proposal being kicked around is to make this a new land adjacent to Frontierland, not part of Frontierland.

I know that :) I am honestly specifically referring the the poster I quoted. They attached it to Frontierland, not me. This is the heart of my issue. Add a new land and make it somehow related magically, and I'm cool (and don't be lazy and connect it by a language only) They connected Fronteirland to US SW and then Mexico and then Colombia. That's just... ummm... yeah. Make it connect in a meaningful way, not an offensive one. I hope that makes sense.

Can we stop calling him “josh” now?

He a hatchet man for the worst ceo in Disney history and it’s not even a close race.

…now I just gotta work on Pommey 🤪
... Why would people stop calling him by his name?

Ah, I see now that you were replying specifically to that poster's "Fiesta Village" idea. I thought you were speaking broadly to the attractions existing in the same general space. Sorry for the misread.

Almost the entirety of the American Southwest used to BE Mexico, so Coco isn't a stretch IMO.

And all of Mexico is the same too... honestly the defending is irking me. In no way are Coco and Encanto related. Just know this is something Hispanics and Latinos tire of all the freaking time.

Yeah zero issues with finding a loose way of connecting. I mean tbh if they could just extend fantasyland I'd be totally cool. But that is physically impossible to do with the location I think?

I didn't say Coco and Encanto are related, I said Mexico (Coco) and the American Southwest (Frontierland) are related. I didn't say a single thing about Encanto, please don't put words in my mouth.

Coco could fit in Frontierland. Please stop extending my position to what some other poster said that I never did.

I've seen several people toss up maps suggesting where the new lands could go! Why would Florida Way or the canals be an obstacle? What would stop Disney from adding a huge area to expand into? They could push all the way to Floridian PL. This area is around the same size as the Magic Kingdom. They could add another stop on the Rivers of America and a train station. They could add an entrance behind big thunder and on either side of the haunted mansion. Can any of our experts on here give odds on this idea?

They are currently building a new Floridian way to the west of the present location becoming Floridian place. The canal has been the sticking point for years and the answer lies in what they do with the riverboat.

It's not a Disney thing. If this were a politics forum and I said "Hillary," you would know what I mean. If this was a baseball forum and I said "Pedro," you would know what I mean. If this was a football forum and I said "Peyton and Eli," you would know what I mean.
I think it’s kinda pointless to try and convince me my opinions are wrong…when I already established they’re silly/half in jest.

But in particular…the “Josh” thing was a classic Disney crafted PR stunt. “Call me Josh”…”im your friend, valued cast member”

Nope.

Reminds me of a guy named “Lee”…I’ve smelled that fish before too.

Can't they just let the canal flow through the expansion area as part of the landscape? They don't need to make any changes to the Rivers of America or the Riverboat. They have two roads on the property that go underwater, so why not build a pedestrian tunnel under the canal that leads to the backstage Riverboat area? Put another stop on the river so people can get off at the new land!

I think you are more likely to see a swing bridge over the boat canal but drydock for the boat is on Bay lake so if it needs work it drives over there (is tugged)
