Talking to a few of my friends in Imagineering, I get the sense that they are currently very, very busy on an unannounced/unconfirmed project.

Not sure if it's this one, but they seem to be cooking up something exciting over at Imagineering.

I wondered when they would greenlight the DVC kiosk for the China Pavilion in EPCOT. Nice opportunity to highlight the potential use of points at Disney Collection Resorts.

Glad to hear it has been fast-tracked.

Let’s start the Imagination Version 4 Summoning Circle, y’all
That they have done ANY other major attraction work in Epcot, knowing that this complete disaster of an attraction* continues to exist as-is drives me nuts.

Thinking about all the ways they could have gone with this on what would probably have been a smaller budget than the Moana walk-through really chaps my hide.

*and that they have known all along that this version along with the one that came directly before it sucks, too, while pimping out Figment every chance they get, fully aware that people like the character for the ride they destroyed and not the one that is there, now.

I hope it’s not this one. Much better options than this imo

If they build another E in Magic Kingdom before Animal Kingdom, they've lost the plot. Fixing Dinoland, a third Pandora attraction, and getting a proper show back in the Rivers of Light theater should be priorities 1, 2, and 3.

Figment is a much better merch mascot than he ever was an attraction host. The voice. It's just SO unbelievably obnoxious.

Completely agree. Other parks need more attention and expansion first, AK being at the top of the list. Disney apparently doesn’t understand spreading out the crowds

I mean, I did hear they had achieved significant milestones in an exciting, TRULY self-cleaning urinal over at Imagineering.

If we can dream it, we can do it!

And tearing down Launch Bay and adding rides to the Animation Courtyard area in DHS should be right after that.

They made everything about the character obnoxious in the new versions of the ride.

Scratch that, they made everything about the ride obnoxious.

Figment was a better sidekick to Dreamfinder than foil / takeover host to Eric Idle.

Dreamfinder might not still work at this point but the ride was so much better when it wasn’t obnoxious.

The original wasn't about figment and a quality replacement shouldn't be, either.

They over-corrected by taking his complete lack of existence beyond the queue video and making the ride all about him.

I understand that 22 years ago, they were trying to figure out how to fix the mess they made with the first redo that had almost no budget with a fix that would also require no budget but they've had over two decades to correct their mistake.

This could be a people-eater again and help move more purple merch to an even bigger audience if they went back to what this pavilion was supposed to be about and if they didn't want to go full-on Inside-Out overlay to do it, there are (IMHO) better and cheap ways.

I mean, why was the Epcot preview not set up in the outdated and abandoned looking downstairs Imageworks area instead of at the Oddessy?

Wouldn't the creative development of the Epcot park fall under the category of imagination and creativity? An exhibit "sponsored" by Imagineering?

Why isn't the upstairs a STEM Imagineering playground or even just a place where they set up some mothballed junk from Imaginerring behind ropes or plexiglass to show off like the way they used to have the bird animatronic in One Man's Dream?

Heck, the ride could just be a series of half-finished disparate Imagineering projects with a little narration discussing the power of imagination and creativity talking about how they build these parks and tooting their own horns.

They could sell their own Imagineering/Figment branded Kiwi Crate (style) projects to take home or subscribe to*

SYNERGY - you make the world go 'round!

It's so simple and the whole thing is just sitting there so underutilized.

... "One Little Spark" could be the name for a series of Imagineering shorts discussing their process or showing off things like the Baby Groot animatronic we'll never see in person, on Disney+ if they needed to make this a media tie-in to get an executive's attention.

There is IP sitting right there just waiting to be mined for this now IP-centric business that would work with new guests and park purests and would still work with the mess they've made this park - no multi-billion dollar acquisitions even needed.

It's maddening.

*I'm sure Kiwi would be among at least half a dozen companies who would love to partner to cash in on a license like that who already have a full infrastructure to support it in place.

If this is a sudden and dramatic push about a project at WDI, I’ve got to wonder if it is about another attraction at Pandora in DAK. The sequel’s success at the box office along with another movie already planned/filmed make this seem like something right up modern Disney’s alley. Also Pandora as a land feels like a very linked to Iger as a project and I could see him buffing it up as a way to cement his parks’ legacy. Fits perfect for his ego.

Edit: also some talk about the idea of Pandora changes here.

I think a Pandora addition is extremely likely with Iger back. DAK was next in line, anyway. They could throw a cheap flat ride into Dino-Rama as part of the budget so the area isn’t such an eyesore.

They’re not doing any of that stuff with Bob the builder around.

You think he’s gonna break from his “milk it, delay, sit on it for 10+ years” construction strategy?
He gave speeches and interviews on it…his blue ocean strategy in manifest.

Now…we may get a PR show this year…since this proxy thing threatens to embarrass him and destroy his ego/legacy.

So it’s gonna be fun. You can’t put this toothpaste back in the tube. Even if it dies down now he is essentially done. He’s getting blamed for all Disney struggles…chapek at the top of the list. The boomerang came back around after he left and tossed it. The master schemer.

I have spent time (lots) on two fan sites for 15+ and I’m sounding the alarm on Bob Iger today as I did on day 1.
But as a Disney fan…and that’s what I am…I never wanted it to actually be this way/go here.
Time is limited…I want to enjoy things and think “how’d they do that?” When looking at genius…not be right about hubris from a backup plan…and that’s all he ever was. Then he created Chapekenstein in the evil basement lab in his own image.

Nah, they get it. Just force park people into the lesser parks through a ridiculous park reservation system.

Yeah, I’m sure I’m just projecting my hopes but another attraction in Pandora just makes a ton of sense with how modern Disney seems to feel that movie box office numbers should be the main driver of theme parks. And working there instead of spending a ton just to replace Dinosaur with Zootopia also makes operational sense.

I did like the Moana art though. Would love to see done together with a ride in Pandora and then burn the Zootopia art.

It would take 6 years…which is why this is so funny. The least appropriate time ever for nothing under construction is now - Epcot building rehash aside (all it really is) - and they have nothing under construction.

And that “blue sky” is just Art and keeping WDI on their leash. They’re dreamers and optimists…but this type of mind control has been standard since the 90’s.

WDI has more corporate meandering to navigate than they ever did…and no one like a sklar or Baxter to stay the course. Minute clinic lady is probably on the yacht with Iger right now sipping the cheap champagne
