Better Late Than Never: 6/11 DCL Alaskan Cruise Trip Report

I meant to write this report over the summer, but life got in the way and I have not found the time until now. Better late than never! I’m going to stick to highlights. The pics are mostly of scenery because my husband prefers not to have his or our kids pics online, and since I am usually the one behind the camera there are very few pics of me. Enjoy! This was a trip of a lifetime, but definitely not once in a lifetime….we can’t wait to do it again!

Sunday 6/5: Travel Day
We flew in two days before the cruise so we would have a full day in Vancouver since we had never been there before. We stayed at The Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel.

We were very tired from a long travel day, so we ordered room service and spent the evening enjoying the amazing view and cool temps on our balcony (we had left 100+ degree weather at home, so we were in Heaven with the cooler Vancouver temps!). View from our balcony:

Monday 6/6: Vancouver

We went down to explore the waterfront of the harbor. The Olympic Cauldron was located across the street from our hotel, and we were lucky to actually see it lit. They had it lit in honor of the Canucks hockey team being in the Stanley Cup playoffs. It was only the 4th time since the 2010 Winter Olympics that it had been lit.

We walked along the sea wall to Stanley Park, which took about an hour since we often stopped to enjoy the views and take pictures. We were very fortunate to have a gorgeous rain free day.…our cab driver from the airport the day before told us it had been raining constantly for the last week.

We got hungry along the way, but chose NOT to eat at this restaurant.
