Best times to ride Toy Story Mania? Normal Morning or EMH eve o

I hear nothing but nightmares about the queue for TSM. We just missed the opening of it on our last trip in '08 so really don't want to miss it on this trip.
That said there is no way I want to queue for 70 mins +

Do you think we are better to go with the stampede at park opening or does the que start to ease during evening EMH's?

We'll be there in August so I know the crowds are going to be pretty bad anyway.

Thanks

No
Go with the stampede, then grab FPs as you exit. The ride is worth it.

Also, first thing in the morning, you can generally ignore the posted wait time. Disney posts the oddest times sometimes... If the park has been open for ten minutes, a posted wait time of 70 minutes means nothing.

Completely. Last time I was there, we stampeded back to Pixar place with the masses and grabbed our FPs first, just assuming that given the crowds that would be the best option. Even after grabbing the FPs we still only had to wait in line for 20 minutes or so. The line to ride was actually nearly the same length as the FP line.

I would say go on a normal morning, especially if another park has morning EMH. We got more done on the normal morning than with EMH (EMH may have been on the weekend, though).

This is probably one of the best suggestions. Going first thing any morning is probably the best to do for any attraction you want to do though.

Thanks for the advice. It's nice the know that if you brave the stampede it's possible to ride with a shorter wait. We're usually so jet lagged for the first days we're up at 5 am anyway!

We've always gone (quickly!!) with the opening stampede, got fastpasses (for about one to one and a half hour or so later) and went on the ride after a 10 or 15 minute queue. We then went back at the fastpass time for the second ride of the day. I really haven't noticed any low wait times during the rest of the day.

I think the one thing to remember about the opening stampede is that even though it looks like, and is, a lot of people, it's nowhere near the number of people that you're going to see the rest of the day in the park.

If you catch Fantasmic on an other night then you could go on an other night that has Fantasmic and skip it to go on TSMM.

On this last trip. Had bad weather one night and they did the "Fantasmic Lite" show but not the full one. Right afterwards headed to TSMM and got through the que in about 20 minutes or less. The que got bad after that though because everyone else got same idea.

But think the regular morning with stampede is good bet. Or try at the very end of the night, maybe shorter then also.

I agree with avoiding EMH like the plague. We go on a normal day, get there at opening but get a Fastpass first before we go standby. You still have time because most people can't get their kids up early enough.

I do think morning EMH is fairly advantageous in the MK and somewhat good for EPCOT and Animal Kingdom, but probably not for TSM at DHS.

In May of last year we went on TSMM twice during the 7:00 finale performance of AI. We had about a 20-minute wait, and went right back in line after finishing the ride because the line was even shorter by 7:30. The second time we probably waited about ten minutes. I don't know if this was a Fantasmic night - we did that once and will never do so again. So, I'd think that during Fantasmic would be a good time to go as well.
