Best times to ride Toy Story Mania? Normal Morning or EMH eve o

I hear nothing but nightmares about the queue for TSM. We just missed the opening of it on our last trip in '08 so really don't want to miss it on this trip.
That said there is no way I want to queue for 70 mins +

Do you think we are better to go with the stampede at park opening or does the que start to ease during evening EMH's?

We'll be there in August so I know the crowds are going to be pretty bad anyway.

Thanks

I just saw that about the refurb. if most people know this expect it to be very popular the last few days before the refurb with everyone wanting to ride. A few days before Easter we went to the morning EHM's and got FP's right away, then rode, got back in line and rode again, then grabbed FP's for RnRC, went and used FP's for TSM. Later that morning we grabbed another set of FP's...my kids love that ride.

I'd suggest having one person grab your FP's, then get in line and ride. Then you can ride it twice in one day (more if your lucky).

I guess I will be the exception. We are DVC owners and don't commando the parks anymore. After becoming DVC owners we started taking our time and love it. Imagine going on vacation and not being rushed! We get out of bed at around 10:00 a.m., walk to the nearest table service restaurant depending on where we are staying, have breakfast and then go back to the room, shop the shops at the resort, do resort activities, get in the pool, nap whatever.

Of course for us, the only way to see TSM now is EMH. We wait until EMH closing and get in line. Last June we got in line around Midnight and waited maybe 60 minutes. In October we got in line around 11:00 p.m. and waited 45 minutes.

We did rope drop at MGM once (HS) and never again. It didn't seem relaxaing to us at all and that is what we prefer to do on vacation, relax.

I recall us getting to the parks last June each evening we went to the parks around 5:00 p.m. for dinner or so. I recall seeing many burned out ruffled looking families walking out while we were completely refreshed walking in. We would eat around 5:30 or so, be done around 6:30-6:45 and we would get started in the parks around 7. Temps are dropping but the crowds are still high. But it isn't long before the crowds start dropping a bit too.

So if you prefer to take your time, Evening EMH toward the very end of EMH may be the best approach.

Fast Pass at TSM is terrible. Last week after getting into HS at about 9:05 am on a non-EMH day I waited about 35 minutes to get a pass (the line was all they way back to Little Mermaid). Sure it beats standing in line for 60-90+ minutes later - but I don't feel it is worth my time to wait that long for a Fast Pass. I think WDW needs to rethink their FP strategy with several rides at the parks.

wow. I'd be bummed to wait 30+ minutes just to get a FP. We always send 1 or 2 people in our group (4-12) to get the fast passes, by the time the rest of our group gets through the crowds our 'runners' usually have the FP's and then we all get in the regular line.
