Best spot for Wishes outside the park?

I've never seen Wishes anywhere except from inside the MK.

I heard there's a pretty good spot at the Comtemporary (and I'm not talking about Cali Grill), am I right!?!

Suggestions please! (And I have a first timer with me!)

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure theres a balcony somewhere at the Contemporary that is not at California Grill. I vaguely remember seeing the 4th of July fireworks from somewhere at the Contemporary w/o dining at California Grill...

But I always like watching them from the beach at the Polynesian.

Which would be better ambiance wise? Comtemp or Poly? Does both have music?

While I think the Contemporary pipes in the music, I know Poly does and I liked the Poly beach a bit better, mainly b/c you are viewing the show from the proper angle. It also felt a bit more relaxing...i.e. we had the kids playing in the sand, we had drinks in hand, and it was just comfy.

Would love to but my gang is on a pretty tight budget and that might be out of the question. (Plus I'm allergic to half the menu!)

Thanks, I was picturing the Poly as a better experience. I think it would be better for our first timer too!

The Poly beach has a great view of wishes with the sound pumped in on the speakers. We have enjoyed watching wishes there many times and is always nice to have a drink while watching as well.

The best place is the Contemporary. The 4th Floor concourse sitting area at the North end of the tower is great, and the music is piped in. There is also an observation deck on the top floor to the south accessed by the stairs, but this is usually off limits, and once you go out there the doors lock behind you. And there is no music. This is not to be confused with the California Grill deck on the North side.

The Polynesian is great because it is right in line with the castle, but much further away than the Contemporary. There are wonderful beaches and grassy knolls and the music is played. The area is always full of people during the fireworks.

There are some good spots at the Grand Floridian too, as long as you have clear sight of the castle. However it is partially obscured by the tree line.

The TTC also plays the music, and you get a decent view near the Ferry Dock off to the right. Usually nobody there.

Best Place?: Contemporary

The Poly beach on a chilly night this past January was great! I grabbed a hammock near Sunset Point and watched Wishes from there. It was wonderful! It does get crowded during the busy times, but it's not usually "shoulder to shoulder". This last time, I nearly had the beach to myself... then again, it was probably 40 degrees by the time Wishes started.

You're farther from the park than either GF or Contemporary, but the angle is perfect. Even some of the intervening trees are carved-out to give a great view of the castle. Also, from the beach, the music level is very low. All the speakers are back by the walkway, but the sound carries so well across the lagoon, you can hear the music just fine from just-about anywhere. At Sunset Point, all you hear is the music coming from MK.

As a bonus, stop by the Tambu Lounge afterwards for a Backscratcher!

You could get a reservation for Kona well timed for the fireworks then hit the Poly beach. The poly beach does have speakers for the show music and is straight across from the Castle so you still get the fireworks front on. If you do go for dinner or otherwise, I would suggest allowing 15 to 20 minutes early arrival to get a decent spot as the best ones can go early.

On a Newfoundland note, we often do this on the first night - after all that Orlando flight from home doesn't get in until lunch and you don't get settled at WDW until mid-afternoon. :)

Strong cases for both Poly and Contemp! Hmmmmm, which to choose!?!

I think my gang would like the Poly better just b/c you're down on a beach. Maybe if we have two nights to spare we can watch from both places!

Thanks for all the insight!
