Best place to eat in a resort or Downtown Disney

Hopefully if you go to Earl of Sandwhich, you don't get caught in the usual long lines coming out of the restaurant. One problem with Earl of Sandwhich is since it's so good and everyone loves it, your're dealing with Soarin like wait times just to get a sandwhich. Now maybe it's changed but when I went to DD 2 years ago 4 days before christmas, the lines barely went to the merry go round. I wanted to try one but I ain't waiting in a line like that just to get a sandwhich no matter how good it is.This may be the last vacation your ever gonna eat somewhere w/o having to make an ADR. Cause with Next Gen, it'll basically be a requirement to have an ADR anywhere from 1-6 months no matter where you eat esp. for the good restaurants. So much for the times when you could just lesiurely walk up to restaurant and not have diffuculty getting into em. *sigh*

Yeah, that is a good one, but we aren't going into the parks that day. So, I was looking for a Resort restaurant, or Downtown Disney. How is Wolfgangs? Or Cape May? Or have any of you tried the restaurants at Ft. Wilderness, or Grand Flordian? Even though this will be my 9th trip, I've never been to the Boardwalk...anything good there?
I have been at Grand Floridan Cafe many times and I always had good there. I never went to Wolfgang Puck Cafe before, but WolfGang Puck Express is an excellent counter service.

Cape May isn't for everyone. If you are not a seafood person, it isn't the place you.

I went to Boardwalk many times in the past in terms of looking around. I only went to ESPN Club there in terms of restaurants and the food was fine a couple years ago, but the menu has changed since I last went there in 2010 or 2011. The only other eating place at Boardwalk is the Boardwalk Bakery for a snack.

ESPN Club has awesome Cheeseburgers. I love the breakfast croissant sandwhiches and cinnamon rolls at Boardwalk Bakery. *yum now I'm the one whose hungry*.

I know right? Our last trip was in October of 2011, and I have never had such a bad trip to Disney in my life. The crowds were UNREAL!! There was the The Food and Wine Festival going on, a midnight Marathon 0n Saturday which had 17,000 runners. And every participant got free admission into the park on Sunday, plus the MNSSHP, it was all just a nightmare. We are going in May this year and I am hoping to miss some of that. We actually always do the 1 QS, 1 CS, and a snack. I will never do a 3 table service meal per day plan again!!! I don't like spending 6 hours a day in a restuarant. Sorry..for rambeling on!

To me I would say this for the best restaurants:
Best Restaurant in a WDW theme park: Tusker House in the AK. Love eating at that buffet for dinner/at night and that bread pudding is da bomb!

Best Restaurant on WDW Property: Victoria and Alberts at GF. A great dinning experience and is still collecting awards for its food/service. Ate their only once and I ordered a steak medium rare which I never do except that one time I did and it was one of the better steaks I have had in my life so far.

Bongos is great- tasty food and a nice atmosphere! If you're looking for something quick and easy, Earl of Sandwich is always good too!

Boardwalk - Bluezoo, Flying Fish, the Fountain, Kimono's

Downtown Disney - House of Blues, Paradiso 37, Raglan Road

Resorts - Kona Cafe (Poly), Maya Grill (CSR), Sanaa (AKL-KV), Turf Club (SSR), Wave (CR)

Not sure where you are staying. If on property, any one of the resort restaurants you are not staying at would be novel. I would think any one of the monorail resorts would give the added benefit of riding the monorail around the loop before or after dinner and you could stay to see the fireworks if not too late for your crew. If staying off property, DD is great. Eating at Earl of Sandwich can leave enough room for a Ghiardelli (sp?) dessert.

I second THIS!!! Earl of Sandwich was actually way better than I thought it was going to be when we tried it last trip, and the price was quite reasonable. And Ghirardelli's is Heaven on Earth! We made a few trips back there during our 10 day stay. A bit pricey, but definitely well worth it! :)

Let me throw another vote for either Jiko or Boma at AKL into the mix.

In addition to the delicious food at both venues, (Boma being an exceptional value IMO), Dining within AKL offers many other benefits that can turn your visit into more than just an excellent meal.

In addition to the beautiful architecture, you have the opportunity to visit Victoria Falls lounge to relax with a beverage before dinner or hit the Zawadi marketplace if you are in a mood to shop.

After dinner, a trip outside to Arusha Rock gives you an opportunity to see some of the animals on the savanna and if you time it right, you can catch the African storytelling in the evening at Ogun's Firepit.

Going to dinner at AKL is really more like visiting a small park than a hotel.

Wherever you decide to go I hope your meal and evening are great!

Shouldn't this be in General Discussion ...
I'm sorry SirLink. I just wanted some suggestions on where to eat an early dinner outside of the 4 parks on our first night. I'm new to this board and this is actually only the 2nd or 3rd post/question I've asked. I am really enjoying all the suggestions I have been receiving and I didn't realize I was posting in the wrong place. I just figured this was a happy place to discuss The Happiest Place on Earth. Sorry, if I failed to post in the correct section.

I have to go with this as well. Jiko & Boma may be my 2 favorite places to eat at WDW based on food alone.

But you also get to look at the animals at the 3 overlooks that are open to the general public (one is at the back of the pool).

The 'cultural safari' is another highlight (usually at 7:30pm). A cast member from Africa talks about their home country and/or the animals in their home country. Some fascinating stories (one from Zimbabwe said that they lived a 20 minute walk from Victoria Falls - and except for the dry season they felt the mist from it that far away).

And before you leave go to Mara and get some Zebra Domes to bring back to your room.

So even if the food there was middle of the road, it's worth a visit. But the food is excellent.
