I had forgotten how cool the DLP version was. Thats my vote.

Never been to DL myself, but I always felt that Pirates doesn't really fit in with the New Orleans theme (until they forced it into the movies). I will admit it looks nicer than WDW, so theres give and take. I'll call it a tie for second but both are well behind DLP.

IIRC, it was due to the fact that New Orleans has its own pirating history, and that many of these were the same pirates that also raided the Caribbean. One of these was Jean Lafitte, who is referenced to on the boat dock of Disneyland's ride. Here's more about Lafitte: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Lafitte

Hope this helps! :animwink:

I vote for WDW's - I love the whole feel of the plaza there. I always thought that the outside was made to reflect more of a Tortuga type architecture (where I would imagine more pirates hung out at )rather then the actual Port Royale which would have had a bit more English architetecture (like DLP).

Also Tortuga makes me think of rum cake......

DLP, then in a close second... WDW-MK. I am not even discussing the one at DLC. It looks more like it should be the entrance to the HoP.

dlp is fantastic, the whole experience feels right, its by water, on a beach, theres a ship in dock outside, skull rock and the water falls the blue lagoon restaurant 'in' the ride, and your going into a caribbean castle, plus inside is brilliant too.wdw is lovely you get the spanish flavour around the area, but the dl entrance looks like a hotel entrance or a restaurant, nothing says pirates to me!
so
dlp, wdw, dl

Thanks for the interesting note. One thing I did see though is that he operated around New Orleans in the early 1800s. I've always take PotC to be set in the "Golden Age of Piracy" in the late 1600s and early 1700s, so thats probably my disconnect. PotC in New Orleans square does make more sense now, but I still rank DLP as the best.

Does anyone have a link to pictures or a diagram of the queue areas of the Pirates rides at Disneyland or Eurodisney? The only one I'm familiar with is the one in Florida.

I found some Youtube videos but they were very poorly lit.

I've never been to DLP. Based on the photo, it's imposing and impressive... but I think I feel like it's a bit too "literal." I like the stateside facades for the more subtle atmosphere they bring...especially WDW's.

Enfilm (his screen name on WDWMagic) has drawn a series of blueprints of Disney's theme parks and attractions. He has several of Disneyland's and WDW's POTC show buildings, though I haven't seen any of DLP's POTC yet.

Here is a link to his flickr photo album:
