So my wife really, really wants a dog. Honestly, I could go either way. We saw a Miniature Pinscher (a tiny version of a Doberman, in case anyone didn't know) the other day and thought it would be a good option.

So we talking that we should give it a Disney name. We would buy a female. So think of the size, ______, and overall tough look of the dog... now what do you think would be a good name?

FYI - we can't use Tinkerbell.

Thanks for your input!!

I think Tinkerbell would be pretty funny if it turns out to be a feisty Min Pin (most are). And considering Tink tries to kill Wendy in Peter Pan- she's hardly the sweet and demure female character.

Something like Minnie might be cute since the breed gives off the appearance of a tiny Dobie.

Well, "Get a rescue dog" would be an unusual name, indeed. :D

We went for a multi-part Disney name for our toy schnauzer's registered name. We used a name from a Disney live-action film + a princess + a favorite Disney song & classic reference.

Riley Belle's Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah Day

Riley is the ever-witty sidekick from National Treasure. Who doesn't need a cool sidekick in life?

Belle is my favorite Disney princess.

Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah Day to reference a song that's fun to sing & Song of the South.

There's lots of fun ways to incorporate your Disney favorites...doesn't have to just be animated character names.

What about your favorite characters? Here are a couple of mine - Mulan, Flower & Mittens. And for a couple of names that are just pretty to me - Briar Rose and Tiger Lilly. Good luck..... :)

Loved Riley!!!!

Are you looking for a princessey type name? Obviously you have a lot to choose from. But my vote goes for Jesse, from Toy Story. I'm not a huge princess fan so I'd take the one who's a little tougher!

Using this method, I would name the dog Jack Cinderella's One Little Spark.

  • Jack (Sparrow) = the lead role in Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Cinderella = my favorite princess
  • "One Little Spark" = song heard in Journey Into Imagination
