Being Drunk in the World

I have to say that I’ve seen it, but it’s never caused me to have a bad time or caused problems for my family. If we see a bunch of drunks we just avoid them.
Also I hate to say it but I’ve been over served or over requested probably two times at Epcot but it was on a trip when it was only my wife and I and we were able to walk back to the BC. I certainly would never want to cause another guest to have any problems or a bad time on their trip. This was quite a few years ago and it hasn’t happened since.

I was at EPCOT for F&W last year, opening weekend, and didn't really notice any drunken behavior at all. Then again, I wasn't really on a mission out looking for it, either. I've seen a couple of videos on YouTube and heard lots of horror stories on here as well, but have not experienced any myself.

I'm sure there are many guests acting unruly or cursing up a storm that are stone cold sober as well as many guests who are completely respectful and having a great time and have a nice, healthy buzz. I think most people know this, but not all sober people are saints and well-behaved and not all imbibers are hooligans.

Judging some responses on here regarding alcohol.....you guys must be a real blast at parties :hilarious:

In all fairness to the original poster, I do agree that you should never be drunk enough to be vomiting on yourself and/or falling down. However, if I saw that happen, I would probably take a picture to post on here, laugh, and then walk away.

The few times I have been irritated by other people at Disney, alcohol was never even a factor. I hardly doubt the woman I saw leave her child's dirty diaper on the people mover was drunk. It's hard to put the blame solely on alcohol when there is a vast number of trash people that go to the parks.

I enjoy drinking in Epcot and Animal Kingdom-I am on vacation after all so I should be able to indulge. Do I get blackout drunk? No. Do I get a little buzzed so that I can tolerate a 300 minute line at FoP? Sure. I never make other people uncomfortable-I work in hospitality so I am very considerate for those around me and I would never want to be the reason someone did not enjoy their trip.

The "alcohol should be banned" agenda that I see on here is just straight up dorky. I'm not sure how else to describe it other than that.

Let people enjoy their vacation they spent thousands on and worry about yourself. If someone is bothering you that much because they are so drunk-get drunk yourself so you won't notice it anymore. PROBLEM SOLVED.

I don't think it is a question of alcohol being served- why limit the many for those few people who don't drink responsibly and become abnoxious and rude. Disney should have a set policy for the few and enforce it. Personally I would take a video and post- maybe they would see it and realize what fools they are making of themselves

Thanks for teeing this up for me, as much as I feel I am a historian, this place is a vacation spot. I do not want to say how many dollars I have spent enjoying the world.

I also am a Springsteen fan and there is a temperance movementmon that board too.

Bottom line, if you are not breaking the law or being obnoxious (which could also be caused by sober fat scooter riders) why does it matter?

The cream rises to the top and there are jerks at the bottom. Intoxicating people or sober jerks will be at the bottom without the help of alcohol.

aka Curse Fest. With or without alcohol.

(I'm honestly surprised how many people are so upset by cursing. I grew up in Jersey, and every third or fourth word out of my mouth starts with f.

Breakfast: "Please pass the f****** eggs, honey."
Driving to work: "WT*?!" (Jersey Road Rage is another subject.)
At work: This is a f****** great song!
At Disney: F***! They always make us park in the last f****** spot on the far end.
Holy f***! I just got a f****** FP for FoP!
At Jiko: omg this elk is so f****** amazing! YES, I have to take pictures for my f****** TR!
I can't f****** believe I just spent $50 on a f****** glass of wine. F***! But totally f****** worth it.
Yes, we have to go meet f****** @Tuvalu !
Ugh, this f****** drive home...)

I do try to control it in front of kids, but I'm not around kids very often anymore, so I'm not used to having to do that anymore.

That never happens in bars. LOL.
I grew up in NY (Long Island) and yes every other word is f this and f that. When i got drafted in 67 left NY and never went back, funny once I got away from it my cursing dropped to almost zero. What may be the norm in one part of the country may not be the norm in others

You know where that comment is getting filed.

Just trying to be helpful. :D Really embodies the whole point of the thread however, which was never about alcohol being "bad", about suggesting Disney stop serving, or about how some people behave as poorly sober as some do drunk. It's about the fact that if you do wish to make a drunken POS out of yourself, there are places for that. WDW, which is, and has always decidedly been a family environment, is not the place.

Park guests being disruptive and obnoxious are idiots period, whether drunk, sober or somewhere in between. But, if you know that you can’t handle your alcohol, then maybe just drink excessively at home instead of in a public place where your behaviour is going to affect other people. If you can get drunk and not be an idiot at WDW, bottoms up.
