Being Drunk in the World

Some are more observant than others.

And actually people watching at the world is fun. We often sit on a bench in Epcot while eating a mickey bar or something and just relax. Not really "paying attention" to any thing in particular but I'm sure we would notice some thing so conspicuous as some one noticeably drunk. the Boardwalk area is designed for a lot of sitting and people watching.

Guys, you have to remember that everyone here has not been here forever. So many folks DON'T know what's been posted before and some times some thing that's been discussed before is may still be relevant. I did a quick search simply using the keyword "drunks" and the threads it brought up are 10, 12 years old. I think I saw one from 2 years ago. so a new person might not know this has been discussed before.
Chill

Now as to public drunkenness, I'm a Native NY'er, so I maybe a bit cynical but pretty much I assume that if there is alcohol being served, there are folks who have had too much. we like to think Disney is a "bubble", it really isn't.

Agreed! It seems that there are a few folks on here that seem to look for someone voicing their "observations" just so they can blast them for it. Not cool! Read the OP's comments, and then if it doesn't interest you, or you have heard it before, just move on please and keep your nasty comments to yourselves. Geez...

My favorites are the several hundred pages long threads where someone dares to bring up something that was discussed 147 pages back. :joyfull:

I have only encountered one, myself. I started with a beer in Canada, the a Guinness at GB. Maybe one or two until we ended up in Germany. Had lunch and ordered a stein. Big mistake. We left the restaurant and when that sun hit me it was all over. I sat down and told the wife to just go shopping while I sat. Took about 45 minutes to recover. Never did it again.,

I'm really curious, why do people spend so much time observing other peoples behavior? I go to WDW every year, DLR every other year and I've never noticed anyone drunk. If you don't look, you don't see it, it doesn't happen.

My problem isn't that I notice it, it is that my kids will notice it. The ages they are at they are like sponges. They soak everything up. Behavior, language, everything. My son particularity likes to sit back and watch rather than be a part of the action so we have to be mindful of what he hears and sees. I shouldn't have to be concerned about this at Disney World. Yes i know it is a public place but c'mon people!

Some fools make it impossible NOT to observer their behavior.
If they are cursing in front of my grandchildren, stinking of alcohol in the line next to me, or throwing up, it DOES happen whether I am looking for it or not.
I am all for ejecting from the park anyone who is intoxicated to the point that they are impaired or causing problems for other guests.

People watching is one thing, but eves dropping on someone elses entire conversation and then complaining about out it on the internet is a tad bit over the top, and as @Tony the Tigger said, you should be paying more attention to the attraction and/or your own group. Perhaps the OP could use a drink

Too busy taking pictures of everything else. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
which usually imo makes me more observant. If I'm using my camera phone, I can tune out others but if I'm using my dslr, I noticed everything.

so if I'm in line at an attraction and taking pictures while in the cue, yep I'll notice the drunko. If you're in the cue for soarin, sorry but how do you NOT notice people around you??

I’ve never encountered people are so vehemently against/afraid of alcohol.. until reading certain threads on this site.

I’ve seen people cursing with and without alcohol, if my kid is in earshot- we walk away. If we’re in line and the people in front of us or behind us are doing it- I say something to them.
It’s not difficult.

If someone is puking your grandkids know that it’s from alcohol?
I’m betting they don’t.. so if they comment, just say the rides or food must have made them sick.. or maybe they have a virus.. there’s plenty of explanations. :)

Now that Disney is adding more alcohol to the parks we may unfortunately be seeing more drunken misconduct. Not fair to others who are trying to enjoy their vacations. Sorry I know I may upset some people but Disney making big mistake adding alcohol in the parks.
No they aren't.

The number of people who are going to get crap faced on $8 Blue Moons at Crystal Palace numbers in the nones.

I've been known to get tipsy with my weekend brunch mimosas. My YES knee-jerk reaction to the inevitable, "Would you like to start out with a mimosa" will add considerable funds to their bottom line. Mimosas and Eeyore, what could be better? (No sarcasm there, I am literally saying that Mimosas and Eeyore will make me happy.)
Right, everyone handles drinking differently, but I think it's a safe wager that the type and amount of alcohol added to MK recently isn't going to create some sort of Child Protective Services drunkenness that's being implied here.
