Been There Done That NOT Going Back

Well this was back in 2001 and our first trip. I did not worry about knowing that much details. I was going for a fun vacation. Back then I did not even know they had guides, and the internet site was not that detailed back then.

When I went (in 2003) I had read several guidebooks cover to cover and specifically made an ADR (PS in those days) based on the interaction. There are advantages and disadvantages to both kinds of touring.

I was surprised by practically nothing... you got a big surprise at PT50's!

Wow, I've been staying away from the boards here since I've been back because I didn't want to bum anyone out. I'll start with your comment and keep going.
"San Angel in Mexico...food was horrible". This used to be a must do dinner stop for us every year. Not any longer. Two trips ago service and food were so bad we took it off our list.
Disney Quest, yeah that's another one that I never need to do again.
No more trips between the middle of May and the middle of September. Too hot and too crowded. My daughter is a senior this year, and I think the full family vacations are done for awhile. Now we can go around Mother's Day again, and we can try some of the slower times of year, just the wife and I.
I was thinking when I started this that I wouldn't do any more length of stay Park Hopper passes, but then realized they are so heavily front loaded that it really doesn't matter.
No more park commando. Been there-lots of times, done that-lots of times, now we're going to enjoy the themeing of the hotels and pools. Going to enjoy some of the restaurants. Gonna take a lot more pictures. Going to just move at a slower more enjoyable pace.
Finally got upset over the money grubbing attitude of the Disney Company. Raising park admission every year and not even going to the trouble of maintaining the parks properly. This topic has been covered to death here but it's important, to me anyway. Put some effort into the maintenance of the parks. Fix stuff when it breaks. Put the magic back into the property please, that's why we go.
After this last trip everything just seems to be old and tired now. I know there have been some referbs and for the most part they're fine, but I just detect a general environment of malaise.
The worst part is I want it to be better and magical and like it used to be. I think it's going to be awhile before we go back.

put me down for not liking 50's primetime...

the one time i went there we didn't get seated for almost an hour after our reservation time, our server didn't interact at all and the food was so-so...

The only thing from our last trip that I'd scratch off the list for next trip was Universe of Energy. That was one of my favorites as a kid but the new version with Ellen's dream is just irritating.

It's in every guidebook. On the disneyworld.com website, it's even under "Special and Unique dining" and the description says:
"Be welcomed into Mom's family and feel at home in her kitchenette. But Mom expects you to mind your manners, so don't be surprised if she tells you to keep your elbows off the table. It's all part of the old-fashioned fun and gentle ribbing that's served up along with the food."

I would expect people to do a little planning before leaving home, and if you don't and something's not what you expect, you have yourself to blame. However, I'd love to see the looks on people's faces who are NOT expecting it.

Well, according to your words, you should have known the tea cups would spin and you should have known the summer would be hot and crowded but, as you said, you really didn't realize you wouldn't like going in June until you went. The other poster didn't realize he'd find the nagging at 50s annoying. This attitude is why I had to give these boards a break. When people are posting their personal opinions or thoughts, they aren't looking for harsh judgement from the rest of the WDW fans. They are well aware when they post that they may be the only person with that thought or opinion. It's an open discussion. The dislike of the cafe is his own. He didn't say NO ONE should go there. He said HE wouldn't go back. Please, people, stop taking everything so personal or as a hit to you because someone didn't like what you did.

Personally, my "NOT going backs" are:

Swiss Family Robinson

Backlot Tour

Sounds Dangerous (Ive never even done it but it just sounds stupid)

Little Mermaid at DHS (the air is so damp and musty smelling. Huge turn off for me.)

Nemo stage show at AK (never was I so happy to have a crying baby. Quick exit outta there lol. Dh and I actually argued over who would get to take her out hahaha I won)

Dumbo (mainly because the CMs wouldnt let my almost 7yr old ride alone so I had to squeeze into one with my, then, 5yr old and her on a tiny seat and laps werent allowed. Won't ride again until at least 1 kid can ride alone. lol)

There are other attractions that I only do for the sit down break. Otherwise, they either don't appeal to me or are something I just don't need to do every single trip.

People are entitled to like or not like what they want. In my initial post I was surprised people were complaining about the interaction because the reason to go to PT50's is the interaction, not the gourmet food. It's part of the experience. If you don't like interaction, you shouldn't go there. It was surprising to me that people wouldn't know that this was an interactive experience. The OP didn't state initially that they didn't know

I wasn't the one who complained about the Tea Cups, and I never said I didn't know June would be hot and crowded. I just said that having been there when it's hot and crowded, I would not do it again.

I'm not saying anything bad about the OP for not knowing. As I mentioned in another post down the line, everyone tours differently. I'm SUCH a commando, that it is foreign TO ME that someone would not have known what PT50's was all about. I actually almost said "Not knowing PT50's is interactive is like not knowing the teacups spin" but that isn't quite true because you can see the teacups spinning BEFORE you get on. haha.

I can definitely see how someone who wasn't expecting the interaction would be uncomfortable.

I knew it would be hot, and that there would be kids and longer lines. I went at that time because we were visiting other relatives in FL. Not having experienced it before, I didn't know how miserable it would be. Having ONLY had experienced Disney in January with cool-warm weather and the longest line being 20 min for Space Mountain, it was a huge contrast. I thought "eh, it's just heat and longer lines. I'll always enjoy Disney World"...

yeh it doesnt matter when u go...Disney always rocks

I am reluctant to post my "not going backs" because I probably will go back to them this time. There are some rides I haven't been on in years (and a few I've never been on) and I was thinking of giving them another chance this time, just for fun and because they are part of WDW.

The things that won't break my heart if I never experience them again are:

MK:

Stitch' Great Escape. I liked it better as AE. They really just overlayed AE and added a horrible smell. Will only ride again BEFORE eating.

Monster's Inc Laugh Floor - Eh. It's ok, but I don't miss the Timekeeper either.

I've never been on the Indy Speedway or the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, or the riverboat. Would like to try all 3 this time

Country Bear Jamboree- a friend told me this was great so I went on my first trip and never went back.

EPCOT:

Imagination- though I always ride it once per trip since it never has a line and it's a quick way to get out of the air conditioning

Rio Del Tiempr/Gran Siesta Tour - zzzzzzzz, though again, I ride it once per trip for the heck of it

DHS:
Sounds Dangerous... does ANYONE like this?
Animation - When I first did this, they were working on Brother Bear, so it wasn't meaningless like it is today

American Idol- I have no desire to do this.

AK: There's not enough here for me to not like it (ooh burn).. but actually I do like all of it, including the trails. Never been to conservation station and PLEASE FIX THE YETI

DisneyQuest - ehh DH liked it. I don't think it's worth the pricetag.

In response to my comment about prime time, I did expect the interaction...what I was commenting on was that this particular cm did not know when to stop( limitations) her constant nagging ( part of show) was getting a little too much and making our eating very uncomfortable. So YES we knew what to expect but she went a little to far in her act.

I no longer have the desire to visit:

Swiss Family Robinson

Sounds Dangerous

American Idol - I have never been and probably never will

Not too many, but there are a few:
1. Enchanted Tiki Room. Once is enough.
2. Electric Water Pageant. Yuck!
3. Narnia. Waste of a nice space.
4. Maelstrom. I've done it a few times, and I'm done with it.
5. The Seas With Nemo. Very disappointing.
6. Captain EO. I was so looking forward to seeing it, and then I couldn't wait to get out!

There are a few more, but mostly kiddie stuff.

I'm a little ashamed to admit this, but when we first ate at Prime Time I was young (probably around 9 or 10). Although I knew what to expect, I got so caught up in the server's schtick that I force-fed myself to finish all of my mac and cheese. I never ate a lot as a child and practically made myself sick during that meal, trying to avoid being yelled at to finish. It was literally years before I could even look at mac and cheese again!

Since then, I've gone back to Prime Time many times and have had wonderful servers. In my opinion, I've noticed that most seem to downplay the intensity, for which I am grateful. I even told my horror story to one of our waitresses, who proceeded to bring me a free bowl of mac and cheese as a joke. But I can definitely understand how a restaurant like that can create a negative experience for some people, especially if you're not expecting it.

I don't feel the need to go on Mission Space again. I only went once shortly after it opened. The line was 3 hours and the ride was cool and everything but I am just not a fan of those simulator rides because they make my chest feel weird. About Maelstrom, I always joke to my family how that ride is my favorite because it seems so ridiculous and we always go on it since it's usually a walk on. However, the last few times I went the line has been 20 minutes so I don't do it

50's Prime Time - Loved the interior. Hated the food. No chemistry with the waiter, almost awkward. The place didn't work for me.

Buzz Lightyear - Ugly as sin. Laser guns feel random. Waste of time.

Test Track - Loud and obnoxious. Low on thrills.

I do not see myself ever doing Stitch again. I've only been on this once and I couldn't believe when it was over...thats was it. So much space was wasted for this, the whole attraction is laughable if not embarrassing.

MK:

DHS:
Sounds Dangerous - wth is this even still doing here?
American Idol Experience - Is this really still that popular?
Journey into Narnia - ???? ????
Yes...yes....yesss, why any of these "attractions" are still wasting space there, I will never understand.

No repeats for me (more):

Narnia- seriously?! WTH?!
AI- did it once. Thought it was lame and a completely phony.
Indiana Jones- wont say NEVER again but not running back over there until they change the show.
