Balloon blowing away - What would you have done?

Well we just came back from 2 weeks at the World and when we were there we bought two of those Tinkerbell light up balloons (not realising they were $15.00 each but hey ho) for our two daughters. We came out of the Magic Kingdom and as we were walking over to the car park, the 9 year old's balloon just came off the string (it was obvious as the 9 year old still had the weights in her hands) and blew away up to the sky.

We kind of just put it down to 'oh one of those things' but when you think about it. What would you have done? We didn't see much point going back to Magic Kingdom to say anything to Guest Relations as we were already at the TTC. I don't believe it was her fault as it's not like she let go and it blew away.

Your ideas?

Not to wax philosophical, but these things happen. Disappointments occur in life, and we must move on. I'm sorry your daughter lost her balloon.

If someone said "hey chris, walk all the way back to magic kingdom, I'll give you $15.00" I would have done it :ROFLOL:

But like someone else said, it happens, she will remember alot more than that balloon from this trip, just smile and think about that :)

Had you returned to the park with the string in hand they would have replaced it, even if it was the next day. Baring that there is not much else you could do.

I believe if that happened to my son and he threw a fit I would use it as a learning experience on dealing with a loss that is out of your control. However if he had not thrown a fit I would have probably told him to come with me and we would have walked back to get a replacement.

You didn't say if it was your last day, or the reason for not going back. I know my wife would have sent me back for a replacement!:D
They would have given you another one if you had asked.
Now if you were leaving the park and rushing to get on a plane back to Scotland, I could see letting it go and chalking it up to a life lesson.

In fairness at the time we just kind of had a 'ah well' attitude to it and she wasn't really THAT bothered about it. It was actually one of our first days believe it or not.

Really I didn't want to be that person that went back in and said 'give me another balloon' because it doesn't REALLY matter in the grand scheme of things. It's just one of those things that I thought about when I came back. At least she still has the weights :ROFLOL:

I never really thought about taking the string back in and to be honest don't think I would have even done that.

I think if it were me, I'd of just looked up at the balloon and said..."Well, it looks like since Grandpa (or any other deceased relative) couldn't come to Disneyworld with us, he wanted your balloon to celebrate the occasion!" Then I would have waved at the sky and said "Enjoy your balloon..we Love you Grampa!"

You should have told your daughter that Tinkerbell was feeling a little suffocated and needed to roam. No one puts Tinkerbell in a corner so she flew back to Pixie Hollow.

In my family, we would have said "Looks like Katy Kitten isn't old enough to have a balloon."

Its a reference to a children's book that my daughter used to love.

Without a doubt the creepiest thing I've ever read on this forum!

Love it.

$15 balloon! OMG I'm gonna have sticker shock on my vacation.

Exactly. My wife said 'can we have two of the Tinkerbell ones?' then when he said they light up we were just kinda 'like 'oooooh great'. It's not as if it was a vacation ruiner or anything like that. I just wanted to see what everyone else would've done. If it happened it MK I maybe would've done something but really by the time you're at the TTC it was a case of 'so....who's hungry?'. :ROFLOL:

I love this suggestion. Really. But I never would have thought of it in the moment.
