I could live without the laptop too....small purse and one book a person....nice to escape work/ technology period when going to WDW...DH just got a palm and it best keep stowed...I like when I read here someone's boyfriend is not bringing his as he want's to look up and not down. :sohappy:LOL I am getting tired of seeing couples out going to restaurants, movies, whatever and both are so tuned into their palm's that neither seems aware of others and world around them...last year when we were on Tom Sawyer Island a couple with 3 very small children spent entire time glued to their units instead of watching children...it was disturbing to me. Crackberry's should be verboten excepting wait time applications and ADR access...IMO.:king:

Well, I am not one to take my laptop with me on vacation, however I do take it on business, and policy is to carry it on - not check it in.

For two reasons.

1) So it does not get busted up

2) So the sensitive information on it stays safer.

As it is, I almost always check my bags, except for my laptop bag. I have a toiletries kit (Currently its the Gier Ness on from Norway in EPCOT) that stays packed with everything I need except for perscription meds. When I have to travel, it is a simple matter to grab it and chuck it in the suitcase. Unpacking it, making sure I have small enough bottles, and putting them in a ziplock bag is just a pain - so I check it.

I usually check one bag and that has always been more than enough to see me through all of my trips to Disney without doing laundry midway through. I do carry a small carry on and sometimes my laptop, depending on the need for that trip. The carry on will normally have my purse, a change of clothes as well as my camera, all of my trip documents and anything I will need before my luggage shows up, such as a trial size tube of sunscreen. Also, the airline isn't responsible for damage to electronics packed in checked luggage. So make sure to ALWAYS carry your laptop, iPod, cell phone, camera, etc in your carry-on luggage.

As for me, when I go to WDW for a week, I pack a suitcase that I check, and then I have a medium-size backpack as my carryon.
Inside the backpack I have my netbook, a book and/or magazine, my liquids ziplock baggie with small bottles of contact solution and eye drops, plus a change of shirt and perhaps a sweatshirt if I know it'll be cooler weather when I arrive, or my collapsible umbrella if it'll be rainy. And the backpack easily fits under the seat in front of me, so I never have to worry about overhead bin space.

While on the trip, the netbook is mostly used for entertainment on the plane, and to jot down notes to potentially use for a trip report. (It also came in handy to whip up a quick spreadsheet to figure out the splitting of the room charges with my roommate)
