bad guests

Rude CM vs Rude Guests

I have to admit, I've had more rude guests on visits than CM, but the key is not to let it ruin your trip. It is very sad to me when parents don't take safety regulations (or any rules for that matter) seriously with their kids.

And yes, all you flash-photography-during-the-ride people drive me nuts!

In the end, we're all there to enjoy ourselves. Disney has made it so that is possible safely. Why not follow the rules? Couldn't hurt anybody. :)

I think it's obsurd to put WDW at fault for some ignorant teenage girls to slip out of their seatbelts on a ride that they were forewarned was dangerous. Not to mention the irresponsible parents - who should be held mostly to blame. If I had tried that as a teen, I would have been beaten senseless, rightfully so!

Anyway, as for annoying guests - YES, guest who talk during rides are annoying. If the ride was silent, had no music and had no speaking parts, then sure, talk away. However, ToT has music, and scenes, as well as all the other rides. The kids who yell and scream for no reason in the Haunted Mansion - I just want to throw things at them! And when I'm in a theater show, and some little kids are asking a thousand questions to their parents, right behind me - UGH! I can understand the kids being excited, but it ruins the show when they talk the whole time, and it's not always KIDS!

It's amazing how inconsiderate people are anymore. The world does not revolve around you, and your actions DO affect other people, but a lot of people are too ignorant and self-centered to realize that.

When I'm on a ride with my cousin, sister or mom we tend to talk...in whispers. We don't yell two cars down to the other family "HEY DID YOU SMELL THAT THAT SMELLED NASTY!!!" on SE but we whisper every now and then so I don't see the harm in that as long as we're not annoying everyone. I will admit that in HM my aunt once cackled reeeally well, like a witch and everyone thought it was part of the ride... sorry I just found it funny...I'll shut up now :)

Yeah when guest try to ruin the magic its no fun. It destroys the purpouse. Talk about the ride during dinner or right after you get off not during it. Repsect others for goodness sakes....

I remember riding IASW with my husband and these groups of kids (probably around ten-years-old), and this woman (I'm going to assume it's their mother), was in back of us...and the kids where just screaming the entire time. They were just doing what normal kids do, just pointing at things and say "That girl over there is me, and that kid over there is you!" Crap like that, but they were just doing that the ENTIRE TIME!!! They were pratically screaming in our ears, and we turned around give them "the look" the woman was on her cell phone chatting away.

Another one is when I was waiting for the Spectramagic and my husband went to get some ice cream, while he was carrying two melting ice cream cones and trying to find me, this guy with his stroller kept on blocking the way (for over a minute), and kept saying, "Oh, are you trying to go through?" My husband almost threw the ice cream all over this guy just for pulling this stunt. He would have wasted $10 but it would have been worth it.

This one (didn't happen to us), but happened to several people that we met on the trip, was telling us about a year or two they went to MK at Easter and they were waiting in line for three hours prior to the parade. Well, there was a bunch of people that were waiting even longer than that for Easter parade, and this woman was being a total runt (use your imaginations). She was pushing through the crowd demanding that her child must see the parade no matter what!!! (Mind you that the parade starts in a 1/2 hour and she is demanding that her kid be right in front to see the parade.) People where telling the woman to back off and everyone came here much earlier and if she wanted to to be in front she should have waited at least four hours ago, well, to make a long story short, CM's didn't do anything about the situation and the child was pushed through to the front of the line, and the mother had her way.

I think that people are more poorly behaved in crowds than they used to be. I never remember the non-stop talking that now occurs on ToT when it first opened. And no one ever listens to the ghost hosts stretching room monologue anymore (although the cast members don't help with they're less than enthusiastic "I told you move away from the walls, can't you hear me!?" attitudes (yes, that happened last year... so much for character).

I was in the Magic Kingdom 2 years ago fro Spring break. I arrived with friends 2 days before the major breaker rush. And while you couldn't tell by the size of the crowds, we knew it was officially Spring break when pieces of gum covered the queue for Splash Mt.

But it is true, Disney will always have much better clients than Six Flags. I've seen people beating their kids, non-stop line cutting, fist fights, etc at numerous 6 Flags parks. Let's hope that Jerry Springer mentality never makes it to the World.

It was very hard to enjoy the ride.

My guess is that they were taking advantage of the proximity to the many countries around the world to avoid international roaming charges.

Get it, ... they were calling ... Never mind :brick: Sorry.

Another rude guest was when someone was taking pictures of POTC, and the CM had to yell at on the loud speaker to knock it off or else the ride will be stopped and the people will be escorted.

No -- in fact, sometimes it's me. My team has a tradition of yelling and screaming on the Haunted Mansion and the Tower of Terror. We generally succeed in startling some people -- which is a good thing, I'd say, since they're supposed to be scary rides. As long as the group isn't excessively loud and obnoxious throughout the ride, I enjoy being grouped with people who are enthusiastic and fun, and occasionally respond to the ride, rather than being completely idle observers -- provided that their 'participation' doesn't interfere too much with the actual show. This makes the rides much more interesting, in my opinion, especially after experiencing them hundreds of times, heh.

To some extent, I'll agree with you. It's painful to wait in line for over an hour just to have your fun spoiled by those who rudely chat among themselves the whole ride, almost oblivious to their surroundings. As for the children, we ought to lighten up a bit, eh? Of course they're going to be excited -- they're in Disney World!

So, having said all that, here's my tale of an intolerable guest. Several weeks ago, I viewed Mickey's Philharmagic for the first time. Some fellow seated behind me -- perhaps a couple of years older than me; I never got a good look at him -- well, it was his first viewing as well. I was thrilled to finally attend the show, and so was this guy. Perhaps he was far too excited. Now, I'm obsessed with the Mouse, just as all of you probably are, but I would say this fan went a little too far. Throughout the show, he's exclaiming, "Ooooh!" ... "Awesome!" ... "Oh, that's just amazing," and so forth. I couldn't stop cringing, but the worst part came with the Aladdin segment: He started singing along with 'A Whole New World!' ... And his singing voice wasn't terribly impressive, either.

(Hm, wouldn't it be hilariously awkward if he posted on WDWMagic.)

Yeah, that is just so stupid. On our last trip we were in Philharmagic and the CM was telling everyone to move all the way down, but of course there are some people who think rules don't apply to them so they park right in the middle of the row. Well, my family tried to move past this other family so we were at the end of the row and my mom said "I thought you were supposed to move to the end of the row," and the lady in this other group said to her, "Isn't it a little early to be so grumpy?" Some people.

I have another one- I forget exactly what happened, but when we were at Animal Kingdom, we were getting in line for Dinosaur and we hear this yelling. Some lady was yelling at one of the CMs (I think her daughter may have gotten lost, or maybe she was too small to go on, I really don't remember why she was screaming). I think she used just about every explicitive you could think of, and then she stormed off. I even think some other CMs came to protect the one who was being yelled at. My dad ended up saying something to the one being yelled at because he was just in total shock, as was I. It was ridiculous.

People who yell at workers drive me crazy. Do they know how hard it is to do line work like that all day while keeping a smily face? No one getting paid as little as those ride workers deserves to get an earful of some trashy woman's rantings.

I've noticed that too in ToT...it used to be so quiet but now I can barely hear the monologue. And like you said, it's not always the guests, the CM's keep yelling to move over here, move over there, so that kills it also. That's happened in HM also, and on one occasion the CM kept screaming for people to shut up which is duh understandable, because first-timers could be missing out on a lot.

First...about the teens slipping out of their seatbelts on TOT. It's very hard to believe that even the most retarded parents would let their kids do that. And, on a ride where you can't pass gas without the CM monitor yelling at you, they're allowed to somehow slip out of the seatbelt and become airborne during the ride without ever being noticed. Something is very seriously wrong with that picture.

As for 'bad guests,' nothing, absolutely nothing brings the worse out in people than uncontrolled character greetings. The pushing and shoving, the obnoxious parents cutting into the disorganized lines is something that I refuse to ever contend with again. The most aggressive kids get the autographs and pictures while the shy kids get passed over again and again.
I have to say that this situation is much improved over the last year or so and CMs do a much better job organizing the greets especially in the Town Hall circle. But there were plenty of times I wanted to grab people by the throat and physically remove them to the back of the line.:lookaroun

people with strollers

I can't stand when people use their strollers as weapons. They think because they have a stroller we should move. Well, when my daughter was little we used one, but never to run people down. Last time we were there, this lady ran right into the back of my daughter not once but twice. I turned around and told her that she needed to not do that again. I would never cut someone off that is using a stroller, but if I'm in front of you stay the heck off the back of my shoes.

I know it may be hard to believe but those girls did it and if you saw the picture you will see me looking back. I should have bought it.

OK all the talk about Philhamagic reminds me of the family that sat in the handicap aisle after the hall started to fill up. A CM told them that this was for handicap guests and that they would have to move. The mother started to gather her kids and turned to the CM and told him that nobody told her that it was handicap and she stormed off complaining the whole way about having to move. It may be true that nobody told her...but to get to thoses seats she had to move past a rope that was blocking her way. And why wasn't a cast member there to tell her, because he was seating a handicap guest.

Where to begin... Where?? Well, first off let me just say that I miss the lap bars on ToT something terrible because all of my taller friends (me being 4'11.. they range to 6'1) would raise the bar and I would fly off my seat enjoying the ride that much more! I have found a way to make the belt not as tight so that I may feel the same free fall... HOWEVER.. I would never ever slip out of my belt as its unsafe, stupid... and well I'm tiny but not that much!

Being and Entertainment CM I have seen many a rude.. dare I say stupid guest in my day.. (you know those safes they have in the hotel rooms?? Those are for the guests' brains..) If you ask me the parents are ALWAYS worse than the children..

The thing that I have to share with you did not happen on a work day.. oh no my friends, I was with family.. my mother.. my sister and my 3 year old niece.. we were waiting for the Dumbo ride.. My first time on it really.. hard to believe. Well, there was a mother in line with a child about my nieces age in front of us.. she began the little potty dance as we neared the front of the que.. Figures... Well what does this concerned mother do?? OH.. she just hands her daughter over the rope to her father and tells her to take her to one of the raised and flowered/bushed areas around a tree and let her do her business... AND HE LISTENED.. So.. there is this little girl.. peeing in the bushes by the Dumbo ride.. I couldn't believe it.. :hammer: Just couldn't believe it.. :brick:

I concur with the previous posts concerning uncontrolled character greetings. I remember waiting in a line with a friend for 20 minutes to have our photo taken with Chip and Dale. It was our turn next and as we started to make our way up to them, this elderly lady brushes past us and proceeds to plant herself in between them and yelling at her husband to take her photo and hurry up.

Now, if it weren't for the fact that I happen to be a believer in respecting my elders, I would have picked this little gray haired old lady up and dumped her in the nearest fountain. I remember we just looked at the two of them like, and what do you think we're all standing in line for???:hammer:
