Backpack on rides?

I'm going to the Magic Kingdom in a week with my niece and nephew who are 10 and 9. I'd like to take a backpack to hold our "stuff" cameras, ponchos, water bottles, cell phone. Anyway, if I don't stuff it too full will I be able to take it on the rides? Or will I have to put it in a locker?
I know at Islands of Adventure I was able to take my backpack on most rides (not including coasters) without a problem.

Black absorbs more light!

That is an excellent point Fievel! I worked with several dark skinned Cuban-Americans while in south Florida and I was amazed at how they would suffer from sunburn unless they used sunblock. Prior to that time (my youth) I always thought that dark skinned people did not suffer from sunburn. I have seen that some folks on this thread also are misinformed about this problem. I understand their notions because I too was once ignorant about how the sun can cause real damage to anyone's skin. I guess the moral is to learn how to wear a high quality sunblock. Malignant melanoma is not good! So smear that good sunblock all over your exposed body.

Talsonic, I'm very used to the weather here. It's really not that bad after 14 years....

Plus, its been raining all summer and we saw 1 hour of sun today for the first time in weeks. So I don't worry about sunscreen that much anymore.
