Backlot express long wait times

Today the Backlot Express quick service resteraunt at Hollywood Studios had wait times as high as 90 minutes, with most people having to wait at least 25 minutes. A CM said that they had just gotten a new menu and a new computer system. Child's orders were not showing up on orders, orders were getting mixed up and the people who took your orders did not know the numbers of the meals (because of the new menu layout) so wait times were longer. CM's said too expect longer waits for the next week or so because of the computer system glitches.

I haven't dined there in close to a decade .... but if the waits were 90 minutes, all of the guests should have received comped food. That's basic guest recovery. Disney 'supposedly' goes above and beyond.

And I would wonder about the intelligence of folks getting into lines when they see there is a mess like that begin with. It isn't like it's world class cuisine or that there aren't other options.

I guess I am not sure why anyone would even bother to time it if it took 90 minutes -- go around the corner and get something somewhere else with a 5-10 minute wait...Not for nothing, I know we should be "shocked" at this -- but to me, its just people not using any common sense.

Or, WDW should have ditched the computers and grabbed some notepads. Of course, that would mean the kids running the registers would have to count your change.... Never mind! Close the restaurant!

Actually, I noticed quite a few times when we had to wait for what seemed an inordinate amount of time for our food. Not that we waited 90 minutes at Backlot Express, so don't question our intelligence! ;) but I don't know if the CP training slowed things down but I can think of at least 3-4 quick service places where it took forever!

The interesting thing about Backlot is that they have moved the beverage bars out so guests can enjoy free refills. It is because of this, my family eats there and the Electric Umbrella usually once a trip. But a 90 minute wait? That's crazy, no way would I stand in line there or any quick-service on property for even 30 minutes.

Today me and my family got their st 11:28 to get some luch (we skipped breakfast so that's why it's an early lunch) The place opened at 11:30 and there were 6 cash registers and each had just 2 or 3 families waiting for the opening so we chose one with 2 families infront thinking we'd have just a 10 or 15 minute wait. The first families order went fine, but the second families order went all wrong. Their child's order didn't show up due to the new computer system glitches, then when they brought it out it had fries and they ordered carrot sticks. 3rd time was the charm so we then ordered. I have a peanut allergy so I had to ask for the ingredient book. The lady taking my order did not know where it is so she paged a manager who took 10 minutes to come out, just to show the lady that the book was right under the cash register. After that it took 30 minutes to cook our food and an hour from the time we got in their to the time we got our food. Terrible service

Really that long? You don't know what you're missing-it's a great place to take your "life" mug and chill out!

I would rather wait 90 minutes for Backlot Express than 0 minutes for ABC Commissary

Last time I was there, they had wonderful fixin bars for the burgers and such. Not simply wilted lettuce, lousy tomatos and some pickle chips ... they had guacamole, pineapple, multiple varities of peppers (some sauteed).

So, I am not even sure I knew they did the drink deal like they did at Electric Umbrella (where Lee is setting up Spirited Meet, Greet & Grope sessions from 9/30-10/2, hours TBD)

I'd rather grab a burger at Fuddrucker's ... have a meal at Red Lobster (chicken usually) ... or lots of great soups and salads at Sweet Tomatos at Crossroads and then drive to the Studios than actually dine there.

Think my last meals there were last fall ... Pizza Planet when I sorta got roped into it with a friend who was hungry (edible, and sent him immediately to the restrooms, me thankfully not!) and 50s PrimeTime with a CM who had a 50% off voucher to burn (was quite good and definitely worth the 50% off prices!)

My last meal at Fuddrucker's was at 4:00 AM during my bachelor party, we're pretty wild.

Disney pizza is edible, but only after at least 2 packets of crushed red pepper. I love the environment in Prime Time, but would it kill them to have a half way decent burger on the menu or Spaghetti with real meatballs?

I just cant hear Fuddrucker's without giggling and thinking of the movie Idiocracy.

I'm interested to see how long this takes to fix. DHS has little to no choice for food, so having one place basically down has to be an issue. I can't imagine whey they didn't refund everyone and shut the doors as soon as this was figured out.
