Background Music Change in Liberty Square

Went to Magic Kingdom today and I noticed something different with the music as I was walking through Liberty Square. Gone are the Sousa and other classic marches that had been playing. In their place it sounded like the old background music that was in Liberty Square before the marches were introduced. It sounded very similar to the background music that plays outside the American Adventure at Epcot, much more colonial sounding. I know this is not major news, but I found it interesting.

If this is permanent, that would be welcome news. When we were there in October I noticed the Sousa marches and they just felt so out of place and LOUD. Hopefully that is rectified now.

This sounds like a good move.

I can't quite figure out how marches from the 1890's theme to colonial America of the 1770's. Who thought that was a good idea? :veryconfu

I don't think they're compiled by the same people, but whoever made one of the Animal Kingdom Lodge background loops didn't bother to arrange the playlist, and the songs play (or played?) in alphabetical order. For the curious ones: Link

Very happy to hear this. We were waiting in Liberty Square several months ago and felt like the previous instrumental selections would be more akin to turn of the century America versus colonial times.

Every time I heard 'The Liberty Bell' playing in Liberty Square, I couldn't help but exclaim "Monty Python's Flying Cir-cussss!"...

Looking forward to the colonial sounding music, it'll be like being in Old Boston or Williamsburg. It'll be a nice change from the JPS marches.

Really glad to hear this news! It sounds as if they've gone back to the "old" music again.

I agree that the Sousa marches were too loud and didn't fit the area well. I don't know who made the decision to change the loop in the first place, but kudos to the person who changed it back!!

WDI made the decision. They were playing around with it during the HoP refurb and liked it so much they left it in place.

They have gone back to the old music. We were there on Thursday and it was lovely to once again sing along with "Molly Malone" while waiting for the parade. But I'm a geek like that.

Nice... I have to be sure I don't use the adult lyrics when I hear it

Off-topic, but is that your daughter in your avatar? I'm a CM and I've seen her at the rides I work at and always compliment her dress. :)

I must be just as geeky because I know the exact song you're talking about!

:ROFLOL:I am glad I am not the only one! We also sing along with the music on Main Street -- especially since The Music Man was our spring musical this past school year where I teach. That music is currently changed to the Christmas music -- is it sad that I would rather hear the Music Man, Oklahoma, Hello Dolly songs?

Nice... I have to be sure I don't use the adult lyrics when I hear it

Oh goodness no! The fact that Molly dies of a fever is traumatic enough for my daughter
"She DIES!!!!! Mommy, what kind of song is this?!?!"
If I were to sing the adult lyrics it would be more along the lines of
"MOTHER! That is completely inappropriate!”

:D Yep, that's my girl! Thank you so much for your compliments -- she and I both adore all of the Cast Members we have met! You all work so hard to make everything extra special for all of the guests. Thank you!

I have recorded a video of the area that I will upload soon, to see if the music has really been replaced (I'm not sure, but it sounds different..).
