Remember when you hear stories from grandparents or parents about things about in their day? I thought we could have fun with this concept and make a joke thread out of it.

here are some examples:

Back in my day, the Tower of Terror had lap bars!
Back in my day, The Pirates would chase women around!
Back in my day, There was no such things as Fastpasses

obivously being 23, i could only think of recent things, but i want to see what other people can think of! :drevil:

Back in my day:

Monorail doors didn`t close themselves
There were trees in the hub
Walt Disney told his own Story in the Magic Kingdom
Pirates of the Caribbean had 2 load flumes
Splash and Thundermountains were in California
The Bears went on Vacation
Toad Lived
The Peoplemover was a WEDWay
You got to Mars in the MK, not Epcot
You had wings or could take a Dreamflight
RCA led the way
EPCOT was in the middle
You had to spend a day in Futureworld to see everything once
We entered a wonderous new age. The age of Information.
Energy made the world go round
It was fun to be free
We dreamt it and did it
Bravo 229 was our submarine
Imagination was worth a visit
We listened to the land
Food rocked, and the Kitchen was a Kabaret
The seas lived
O'Canada was sensible
China had no reflections. It was a wonder. Neither did IllumiNations.
Mexico had no ducks.
The studio tour took 2 hours and was worth every minute
The Muppets were on stage
Television was super
Sound was monsterous

and Star Tours was state of the Art

Back in my day there was only one park  and we all sang "like the birdies do".

There was no Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Pirates of the Carribean, Big Thunder Mountain, or Peoplemover.

Back in my day:

- The Empress Lilly looked like an elegant riverboat, with a rotating stern paddle and two large smoke-stacks.
- WDW celebrated America's bicentennial
- WDW celebrated the bicentennial of the constitution
- Mickey was given an entire birthdayland for his sixtieth birthday!
- There were rumours about an upcoming EPCOT Center attraction, showing a family in the dessert, undersea, in space.
- One exciting EPCOT attraction showed you a....computer!!
- This computer filled a room the size of Texas, but had less processing power than my current espresso machine.
- There was a big stretch of vegetation between the Polynesian and the Ticket Center.
- There were rumours of building a second World Showcase lagoon, to create enough space for all the new countries they were going to build...

Back in the day....

(Good stuff...in my opinion)

-Figment was friends with The Dreamfinder, not Eric Idel in a lab coat
-The Time Keeper took us back in Time
-The Backlot Studio tour included visits to the Golden Girls' House, The Mattew's House, and Alice's House
- You could see down Hollywood Blvd and actually see the Great Movie Ride
- You didn't have to worry about a group of crazy cheerleaders on a float running you over
-You could take in a show staring everyone's favorite Hunched Back Bell ringer
-At the end of the day, just before Illuminations, you could see a cavalcade of puppets and drum machines taking you on a musical journy all over the world or into the dreams of you and everyone around you
-The Tiki Birds didnt have company from Africa and the middle east invading
-You could walk around Adventureland without having to worry about a camel spitting on you
-You could join Pocohuntas and her forrest friends in singing with the Colors of the Wind

(Bad Stuff...in my opinion)

-We had a much scarier Encounter with an Extraterrestrial
-The Hollywood Tower Hotel Elevator only went up and down once
-Guests in Wheelchairs got their own wild ride over a certian bridge.....
-Cinderella let Aurora's Dad host a Dinner Party in her castle
-Those with weaker tummies couldn't handle the trip to Mars
-The "story line" of your safari could be hard to follow at times

(I am also only 23....)

Back in my day.....

The magic shop was on Main Street not DTD.
You had to have your hand stamped if you left the parks and came back that day.
Eastern Airlines was the official airline of WDW and it meant something.
The Poly had lime green and pastel blue floors.
The Comtemporary had a huge game room.
Communicore/Innoventions had windows.
I could only buy Epcot center souvenirs in Epcot center at Centorium.

DTD was called Lake Buena Vista Village and it had a playground and a gourmet shop.
There was no "great big beautiful tomorrow" Now was the time.
The strollers were metal with light blue canvas coverings.

There was no fastpass and yet no one complained about standing in line.
You had no idea what an ADR was.
You could take a wild ride with a toad.
You could see them building a giant golf ball off in the distance but could only imagine what was inside.
Submarines were one of the most popular forms of transpotation.
Pirates chased woman.
You could watch a movie on main street.
You found different souvenirs in every shop.
The Carosel of Progress was always open and had a line.
