And here I was hoping the monorail driver had the scoop on the new multi-park expansion with Mysterious Island, Fantasyland, the Little Mermaid, Soarin', SSE Descent, Imagination, Monsters Inc, the Fifth Park, Indiana Jones Adventure, the repaired Yeti, the new Illuminations, updated Fantasmic, Rivers of Light, Disney's purchase of Islands of Adventure and...oh yeah, the monorail expansion to Sea World.

Stayed at Saratoga last year and had no issues with the bus system... Stinks you had problems...

We stayed at Saratoga Springs last year over Halloween and bus service was bad. One day we waited 45 minutes for a bus. Don't know the reason why though. Could it be because SS is DVC?

Disney's daughter doesn't have any roll in the company, her husband was CEO of the company for awhile back before Eisner.
As for the buses...Disney seems to have trouble from time to time on how to delegate their buses around the World.

Diana Disney Miller (Walt's daughter) is working on the new Disney Family Museum opening in San Fransisco later this year.

This is an odd question in the middle of your WDW observations. What made you ask? Was she at WDW or something?
haha well i was at saratoga springs and we were watching something about disney on there, of course, and it made me think about how the company, well from what i've ever heard, has never been in her hands. its weird because that's walts daughter and i figured she would be head of it before roy e disney was

Her husband was CEO, I believe, but it is a publicly owned company. Roy is kind of the spokesperson for the family. He was never CEO. I'm sure that there are others here that can provide more details. For instance, I'm not sure when TWDC went public.

Yes, but this is a project driven by Diane and Ron Miller as private citizens, and only vaguely affiliated with the Walt Disney Company. It will be located in The Presidio in San Francisco, and it opens in September. It is rumored to be a fabulous and very in depth museum into Walt and the company he created. Disneyland will be heavily represented in the exhibits, but WDW not so much as Walt died five years before WDW opened.

I'm planning a weekend trip up to San Francisco in December to visit the Walt Disney Family Museum, and also the fantastic and ground breaking new California Academy of Sciences museum nearby. I can't wait!

And I doubt Walt would be thrilled to see what the bus service around his Florida property has devolved into.

Her husband was a Company executive and rose to Disney Company President in the 1980's, but was forced out under Eisner. There is some bad blood there, but things have also healed a bit with time.

Diane Disney is also of the generation when women did not routinely enter the workplace. Rather, her husband Ron was brought into the Disney executive ranks and was very highly regarded by Walt.

The bus system has definitely gone downhill over the years. I can remember in the early 90's when we never waited more than 10 minutes EVER.

I guess with increased hotels and increased attendance since the early 90's, it was inevitable. I guess they could add more busses, but at sometime it would be a giant logjam of WDW busses on all the roads.

Maybe they can find some happy medium. I think bigger busses would be a good first step.

I will have to concur here with Saratoga Busses being crappy for the week of June 12-19th, 2009.... we seemed to always be waiting for ever it seemed...meanwhile all the other resorts seemed to have 2 or 3 busses to our one... And Coronado Springs riders always were the most frequently picked up...this was true at MK, Epcot, and DHS.....

I stayed at POFQ a few weeks ago. The resort was lovely but the bus service stunk out loud. I usually don't let stuff like late buses get under my skin while on vacation, but I found myself actually being ticked off after days upon days of poor service.

That same day of waiting at EPCOT for the SSR bus, Animal Kingdom had 6 buses and Animal Kingdom Lodge had at least 3. Someone that was in line with us called transportation and they told us that a bus had reported stopping just a few minutes before we called... We had been there at least 40 minutes by that time and there was no bus. Are the bus drivers not reporting the correct pickup/drop-off times?

I wonder how much it would cost them to add the monorail all over WDW and then get rid of the buses..:veryconfu

Oddly enough, my husband and I just watched a Modern Marvels episode this weekend featuring WDW. They said in 1971 it cost $1 million/mile for each of the 14 miles it took to connect EPCOT to MK. I'd say it would easily be $10 million/mile now (so...probably around $140 million for 14 miles - yikes).

second thing what roll does walt disney's daughter have with disney world and the company?

A brand new article just popped up today in the London Free Press discussing Diane Disney Miller and her work on the upcoming Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco.

John Lasseter and Diane Disney Miller are quoted extensively about the museum in the article. If you are interested in Walt... http://lfpress.ca/newsstand/Today/Entertainment/2009/06/22/9887061.html
