I agree with Debbie, you may have a complete change of heart once you actually see him! Neither of my kids have the names we had in mind before they were born.

Those are nice name choices though!

Congratulations!! :)

My husband wanted a Harley (and still does) so bad that he was stuck on that name. I told him "I know you want a Harley but we don't have to name the kid that." I think he was waiting to see if the ultrasound was wrong and we would have a girl. Knowing this was our first and last child together, I wanted to put some thought into this. And his mom and dad were so excited that my husband had finally settled down and they felt this was his chance at having a good life. They are the ones who convinced him to have a Jr.

I would seriously think about AidanN. I love the name, but am not keen on that spelling, and here's why.

When "Taylor" became a popular name, it was mostly for boys. Now I know as many girls as boys named Taylor, and when the name is in print, you don't know. (I don't like this and avoided unisex names with my kids)

You can't know the future, but Aidan may become wildly popular for girls and you will have that confusion. If I saw Aidann in print, I would tend to think that the unusual spelling meant it was a girl. Not to mention that it will be mis-prounced "Aide-ANN".

Also, no one has said this yet, but you can plan on your "Colin" being called "colon" (as in large intestine) some time in his life.

and they all think think u should name ur son COLBY....or CODY....I dunno y tho...Collin or Cam or Adian sound good to me....

Best Wishes!

I know what you mean by the C names...my cousin named her kids....Creighton, Ceciline, Corrine, and Caitlyn....Not sure on the spelling of each of those names, my cousin has them spelled weird....their last name is Crosby BTW! :)

Thanks for all of the feedback guys. I appreciated your honest opinions. You're right about Aidann with two n's, (f it's Aidan) it might have to be spelled with one n. Also, whoever said that we might have to actually see it after it is born to see if what name fits him has a point. Anyway, I plan to buy a digital camera, as I don't have one yet, and I will definitely post some pictures. :animwink:

I agree about spelling Aidan without the extra "n" at the end. I'm a teacher, and kids who have to spend a lot of time correcting the spelling of their names get real tired of it!

I also agree with waiting until you meet your son before you decide for sure! All three of those names are good.:)

Why don´t you name him "Ryan"???

From your three options, I think I would choose Cameron. although it reminds me of Cameron Diaz, I still think it is a boy´s name. Colin and Aidan both sound a little bit more girlish to me. :animwink: As a suggestion, give the baby a middle name so in case he doesn´t like your name choice, he can always use his other name! ;)

Congrats on the baby! :king:

Thanks Maria. Where have I heard the name Ryan before???
His middle name will be Patrick, same as my middle name. The only other Cameron I can think of is Cam Neely (former Boston Bruins hockey player), and Aidan Quinn (actor) is the only other person I know with that name. We're just trying to think of good sounding Irish names.:)

Irish names? - how about Seamus, Timothy, Michael, Dennis or Connor (sometimes spelled Conor)? There are lots of others, too - I'm just drawing a blank at the moment.

All kidding aside, Maria's suggestion has a real ring to it - Ryan Patrick is a good name!

:) When I think of Aidan I thik of the character from S*x and the City.

If you don't know him he's the nice guy, Mr Perfect, can't find a thing wrong with him.

be careful using uncommon names as you will not find
personalized things kids like!
pencils, pens, name tags, bike lis. plates, etc....

some kids make fun of kids with different names as well
also beware of the word potential that the initials may spell!

make sure you have thought about all that before you name
a boy anything different.

I think of a girl when i hear cameron because my daughter's
best friend has that name it is unisex.

i like ryan patrick (my son is ryan):)

I could NEVER find anything with my name spelled correctly!

I don't consider Aidan, Colin, and Cameron to be that unusual-- and they are quickly becoming very popular. Maybe it depends on where in the States you live

I like Ryan Patrick, except it's too close to my name which is Brian Patrick. :) I do like Seamus though and Shea though.

I'd go for Aidan Patrick. Aidan is my third son's first middle name, Patrick is my first son's first middle name. We gave all the boys two middle names because I have two middle names, and we would get to use more names that way.
