Avoiding getting spritzed with water on rides?

We're going to WDW for a 25th anniversary trip next week! Woo-hoo! :sohappy: I'm very much a ride person but DH, not so much. He also really hates getting wet (he gets cold easily) and rides/attractions where you get spritzed with water, even briefly, sound unpleasant to him. Is there any way to avoid that in shows like It's Tough to Be a Bug and Philharmagic, or rides like Toy Story Mania? (I guess on the latter, not aiming at the ballons, but what if you miss?) Are there other rides I should know about (some are obvious like Splash Mtn or Kali River Rapids, but for example we were talking about Aladdin's Magic Carpets and my book said "the best part is the camels who spit at you"... don't want him to be taken by surprise!) Thanks for any tips/advice.

The amount of water in the shows is very minimal, kind of like splashing a little water on yourself while washing your hands. The camel spits a little more, but if you pay attention while walking around it you should be safe.

Is there water on Toy Story Mania? I totally don't remember that.

The amount of water in the 3D movies is not worth fussing over.

Do you plan to ride the carpet ride? It's kind of a baby ride. When walking around Adventureland just don't step anywhere that the ground is wet.

There is wet potential on Splash Mountain and soak potential on Kali River Rapids. He can wear a poncho and stay dry on both.

I know what you mean. My husband does that too - whines about getting wet. :ROFLOL:He normally refuses to ride splash with me - at this point I'm not even sure if it is because of getting wet or me mocking him openly when he whines after getting wet.:lol:

You could try a poncho for him - that is probably the best bet. I wouldn't even bother taking him on Kali - my husband still won't ride that one. :lookaroun

Disney doesn't get people as "wet" as universal does. I have only been to universal once, but I remember getting out of attractions and not appreciating their level of water.

What we do for our girls is take their favorite blanket with them. They hold it up during "wet times." It helps them a lot.

Now for adults that might looks silly, but a light shawl or jacket would do the same trick. Also some attractions you can "cover" where the water comes out (like the 3d shows.)

Other then that don't worry too much about it.

Oh and on the back lot tour DO NOT sit in the very last row of the tram. All the water runs down the back, and right on you. We learned this one the hard way.

If a seat is wet when you get in it, that is a bad sign. 99 percent of the time it is from the person in front of you getting wet from the attraction. Only rarely is it from a child who couldn't make it to the bathroom in time. Either way it aint good. LOL,

With the 3D attractions, you'd have to know where the water would be coming from and block it in some way. For Splash and Kali, I would recommend really cheap rain ponchos. You can get them for $1.00 from Target or Wal-Mart (in the camping section). They are thin, but work fantastically for a ride or two. Even better, while they're still in their package, they fit in your back pocket.

Right on...we use ponchos for both Kali & Splash....except in the heat of the summer when getting wet is a joy.....

Last time I was at World of Disney there was a Stitch above the front door that shot water periodically.

It would be easy enough to avoid, but it's always good to know to be on guard there.

On the Aladdin Magic Carpet ride, you can use the control lever to go up and down to avoid the spitting water. I know this because when my wife and I rode it, I intentionally raised our carpet up just so she would get squirted when we went by the spitting camel. :D

Oh I forgot... my wife got surprised by the squirting tiki totems in adventureland while waiting with our 3 yr old. We(son, daughter, and I were on Pirates) When we got off, she told me about it and how she must have looked because she jumped and was truely surprised.

You might want to add that one to your list of things to avoid.

Watch out for Catastrophe Canyon during the Studio Backlot Tour at Disney's Hollywood Studio too! There is a slight chance of getting spritzed a bit, especially if you are sitting on the left of the seat.

Don't sit near the front if you watch Fantasmic - you won't get wet but if the wind is in the wrong direction then you may be in the way of the mist which can be unpleasant. It's never worried me though and I would rather get front row and risk a light misting than have to contend wth people's heads and video cameras (I am quite short...)

Water rides like Pirates, Mealstrom etc are fine and you may get a single drop of water on you (if that). I would like to see the look on his face when he heads towards the Davey Jones projection on PotC though!

I don't think Alladins carpet will bother you, you can see where the camel is spitting so just don't stand there.

You might want to be careful when crossing the bridge over Splash Mountain but again, you can see where you will / won't get wet by looking at the floor.

On the whole, Disney World has very, very few rides where you risk getting wet - as long as you avoid the water parks that is....

I would recommend ponchos as well, but I must accompany it with a warning:

my mom didn't want to get wet on Splash Mountain, so she wore her poncho. It was not foolproof however. She had it covering everything so that there was a tiny hole that she could see and breathe through. The water went up into the hood of the poncho and down her back...she ended up more wet than any of us :ROFLOL:

I did that to my mom years ago!!

Yea my friend and I had that happen to us on Kahli. It was a bit rainy when we got on so we just kept wearing our ponchos we wern't as soaked as everyone else since it became a downpour while we were on it. But the parts that the water got through were soaked and made for a really cold bus ride back.

Well, you could wear a poncho on Splash, but when you get into the boat, your gonna start out sitting down in a puddle. Theres always water in the boat from the ride before yours. So just settle in and and we always found that the warm sun dries what little 'wet' you get in minutes anyways.

The spritz from some of the other attractions is very minimal, that its not worth noting. (Muppets, etc.
