Avengers Infinity War SPOILER Filled Thread

So, saw it again just now.

I tried to pay keen attention to Thanos only culling half the Asgardians, but there was no mention of it that I caught. Now, it would be out of character for him to kill them all, but that's what was shown on the screen. At least, his intent, because Thor survived. Also, Thor never mentioned all his people being dead, just his family and Heimdall. So... I dunno.

On second viewing it was super obvious that after the snap of his fingers, Thanos was in the Soul Stone (everything was orange) and Gamorette was there since her soul was traded for the Soul Stone. After he left it, then everyone start to ash. I imagine it's pretty crowded right now.

I realized that Wanda's power to destroy the mind stone was because it was the mind stone that gave her and her brother powers.

I think the word Thor used for Xandar is 'decimated.'
Okay, so it was snap, soul stone/ Gamora, then ash? I saw it Thursday but in my head over the past two days, I thought it was was snap, ash, Gamora.

Glad to have that cleared up lol

What did you think of it the second time around?

The voice on the Asgardian ship at the very beginning is reportedly that of Kenneth Branagh! If that’s true, that’s a nice touch to bring the Thor Saga full circle

I’ll listen to that more closely when I see it again.

As far as the ship goes...they did in fact blow it up...so I don’t see how half would have survived...that didn’t quite fit.

Nope...currently still alive

Hint: whole family dead, population wiped out, planet abandoned, girlfriend dumped him to hide from anakin...

Kinda the most pathetic of all the characters...who are all kinda miserable/pathetic
I thought you said it was someone we weren’t talking about. Everyone was talking about Thor and the Asgardians.

Edit: you said “leaning towards” in which case I still have a bit of a point. It was leaned towards heavily in that scene with Rocket. He said it himself that he’s got nothing to lose.

Sorry...I wasn’t reading the whole thread or being nuanced...

Thor’a Character arc has basically been a Greek (haha) tragedy...

You can’t kill him...but he loses in every film

My bad...I thought 2 was higher/further ahead
This is what we’re looking at for the top 10 films:

What makes Black Panther unique is that it made most of its money on the domestic side and not internationally. Based on the trends of the past two Avengers films, the opposite will probably be true.

So bp likely jumped terms of endearment at #9 yesterday after the finals come in...and probably is pretty solid to pass harry in late repeats..

Infinity is projected to finish just north or south of ep 7...

So 4 solid in the top 10. I’ll have to check the adjusted

On Infinity War. I saw it twice this weekend. It was fun for what it was. A perfect on screen reflection of event comics for better and for worse. Lots of great "fist pumping moments" as some like to say. High intensity. But the pacing was a bit too frenetic and the nature of the movie didn't allow room for many of the characters to breath. That being said it was a massive achievement. I don't think this movie could possibly be much better than it was. I think there are just limitations to what can be done with a movie like this.

But one thing bothered me. And maybe I'm just overexposed to industry news or overly cynical, but it was hard to be emotional affected by the ending when many of the characters who turned to dust are obviously going to be coming back. If they had just restrained themselves on Black Panther, Spidey, and Star Lord I would have at least been able to entertain the idea that this might stick. But with those three gone, you know its' getting erased in 4. Too many sequels, and too much money on the line. So it lacks emotional weight that some of the deaths earlier in the film had.
