Avengers Infinity War SPOILER Filled Thread

I somehow did not cry about Gamora (honestly a part of me is waiting for Thanos to reveal that he only tricked Red Skull- who I did not expect??????- using the Reality Stone to get the Soul Stone, and in fact, Gamora’s fine), but Bucky was the start of the waterworks for me, which then got stronger when I saw T’Challa, and then turned into me saying “No no no no no” while the rest of the audience freaked out about Peter Parker.

Who wants to bet that Hawkeye just lost his whole family?
I bet you are so right, probably Pepper too.
I felt like with Thor losing people and the whole Gamora thing, the driving force may be revenge, Bucky too with Captain America.

They made a big deal of Tony only managing to draw a single drop of blood from Thanos (potential plot point for Avengers 4 with Ant-Man perhaps)

Was it me or was Peter's "Death" really drawn out compared to everyone else, most just turned almost instantly to ash but Peter was almost like he was fighting it.

I can't really see them just wiping out half of the Marvel Superheroes and then going oh but hey this person can take over the job instead (Miles or T'challa Sister etc) That would be a massive disservice to everything they have built over 10 years.

His Spidey Senses coming to life maybe? At least what I thought.
Amazing movie, I can’t wait to go rewatch. The way it flipped from different characters and different places, made it seem not drawn out like some longer movies. (The Last Jedi, lost me halfway thru for a bit) I loved the humor, loved the action, the emotion- everything. I hope Loki isn’t really dead, although it seems as if. I loved him.

Just a thing a friend and I are texting each other about right now- Gamora’s character development.
GotG- I don’t dance.
Infinity War- first scene is her singing in the cockpit

GotG- wants no kind of romance with Peter
Infinity War- tells Peter she loves him

GotG- has her guard up for 95% of the movie
Infinity War- is incredibly emotionally raw. If it wasn’t for GotG2, Gamora probably would have let Nebula die.
The Thanos-Gamora relationship is the strongest, most real stuff in the film. Devastating in its verisimilitude.

The popcorn bucket also, I meant to say is a spoiler. First thing I said when we sat down munching was why does Thor have two eyes. In the previews with Rocket did he have the patch or no?

Throwing this in the negative pile- we never get a clear resolution about the Asgardian refugees. Who knows the half that survived may show up on Earth in Avengers 4 (led by Valkyrie), but the movie really made it seem like they all died.

I saw it yesterday afternoon and loved every second of it but I don’t know how I’m gonna survive until next year to see what happens next.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well balanced everyone’s screen time is considering how big the cast is but I think the Russo bros handled it well. I was worried certain “bigger” characters were going to hog most of the film but they didn’t and I’m happy I’ve got lots more Guardians content now.

Personally, I believe Gamora will be back. Her soul is trapped in the soul stone so when they do eventually defeat Thanos I think she’ll be back. Or at least that’s what I hope will happen because I really like her....

As I said to my friend after we watched it yesterday, I think we should be more concerned about the characters that didn’t disappear tbh All of the original Avengers survived which I wasn’t expecting so I reckon there’s going to be some sacrifices to bring back the newer Avengers in A4.

Highlights for me were:

- Wanda, Okoye & Natasha team up vs Proxima Midnight
- Rocket & Bucky team up
- Drax “standing still”
- Okoye side-eyeing Bruce
- Mantis trampolining on Titan
- “Don’t put your eggs in me”
- Thor & Rocket’s talk on the way to make Stormbreaker
- Wanda’s smile when Cap arrives
- Everything with Thor and the Guardians
- Tony & Peter at the end
- Pirate Angel, Rabbit & The Tree arriving at the battle in Wakanda
- The whole scene with Thanos, Gamora & Quill on Knowhere
- That Vormir cameo
- Wanda taking on Thanos whilst destroying the Mind Stone
- The Snap
- Bucky’s “Steve?”

I think Peter P felt it more than the others because of his Spidey Sense and his accelerated healing. Mantis felt it too and she has Empathic abilities so I think that had something to do with it.

TL;DR I enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next one.

This might come off as rambling, but I can’t get how effective the emotional beats were in this movie. These are just the ones I can think of at the top of my head:
  • Thor’s anguish over Loki
  • Tony’s last conversation with Pepper
  • Gamora being so at ease, singing along to Rubberman, was a subtle emotional beat for me
  • Secret Avengers rescuing Vision & Wanda
  • Quill and Gamora’s kiss
  • Gamora’s reaction when she thinks she killed Thanos... and the reveal that shows the opposite
  • Quill following through with his attempt to kill Gamora
  • The Nebula reveal (if her revelation in GotG2 wasn’t proof of who the favorite daughter was, we really see it here)
  • Thanos killing Gamora. I really did not see this scene coming at all, and the theater was dead quiet.
  • M’Baku calling T’Challa his brother
  • The creation of Stormbreaker
  • Quill’s plan to stop Thanos, and the immediate unraveling of it.
  • Wanda killing Vision... and her look of horror when Thanos turns back time just to kill him all over again
  • Thor putting the axe in Thanos’s chest, just to find out it was all for nothing
  • Half the team turning to ash. Steve & Rocket losing Bucky & Groot, again. Sam dying alone. Okoye watching T’Challa die again. Quill realizing he messed up as he dies. Peter... okay I’m crying about Peter Parker again
  • And last but not least, the hope spot by seeing Captain Marvel’s emblem. I’m sure 90% of the people who are seeing this have no idea who Carol Danvers is, but the music is a clue that something good will happen

You’re spot on with all of this. The beginning of the film, the scene with Quill, Gamora & Thanos, Vision & Wanda’s goodbye to each other, everyone’s reactions to The Snap (especially Okoye, Rocket & Steve) and the last scene between Tony & Peter were all punches in the gut for me.

Marvel movies have that uncanny ability to perfectly balance emotional impact and humour that a lot of films don’t.

I was practically on the edge of my seat during the scene where Gamora’s trying to get Quill to kill her and then the bubble gun happened and I was relieved but still caught up in the emotion of the scene.

Also, put me firmly in the camp that hopes Valkyrie and Korg safely got off that ship because I love those two. No bodies no death as far as I’m concerned.

One more that I’m adding to my list right now- Guardians first scene, Gamora is shown singing and is pretty at ease with everyone, which as I mentioned in a different post, is huge character development.

And you’re exactly right about Valkyrie and Korg. If there wasn’t a body, I don’t think they’re gone.

Your list is missing something huge.

“I AM GROOT!!!”

“I am Steve Rogers.”

Oh my goodness! You’re right! How could I have forgotten that? I loved that bit!

I also forgot “I’ll do you one better - why is Gamora?”, Rhodey bombing the cannon fodder along the shield border in Wakanda, “We have a Hulk” and “Why was she up there this whole time?”

This film is golden!

I was shocked a bucky but then big names who we know have movies coming up stated going. Everyone who turned to dust basically I was like they'll be back eventually. I did tear up a Heimdal. Everyone else I think I was just shell-shocked.

I’m very new to the Marvel Universe - had only seen Black Panther in theaters before Infinity War. That said, I had enough context going in and wow.

Really didn't think it was going to end with Thanos collecting the stones. Reviews had me expecting more of a cliffhanger, but that was crazy. Both satisfying and anxiety-inducing. How are they going to undo that?!
Rumors point too - Time Travel.

Couple non-dead character things-

Did anyone really expect Red Skull to show up when he did??? Like, there was some joking that he would show up as soon as Thanos put the Space stone in his glove, but that didn't happen, I kind of forgot about it, and then boom, Red Skull.

Peter Dinklage was the largest character in the movie.
When Red Skull showed up my son about yanked my arm out the socket. He was grinning like crazy and pointing at the screen with his other hand.

The movie was so good! Chris H was amazing. All the emotion he was showing at the beginning of the film. Thor crying! He was great at the comedy too. Sooooo many great one-liners by everyone.

I loved when Groot finally put that game down and finished the axe. I can't even think about all the things that were amazing yet. My mind needs time to settle down.

All the girls power in Scotland and Wakanda was not enough to salvage the movie for my daughter (9) she did not like it at all! But she's all in for Ant-Man and the Wasp still.

My son (7) like the first 3rd and last 3rd all the bickering and emotional plot stuff in the middle he was so bored.

My son was sad that Vision died. He doesn't care much about Loki or Gomora he forgot Heimdal died at all. My daughter hasn't really watched the other movies closely so she doesn't have a big attachment to any of the characters. All the people that turned to dust my kids just assumed that they will be saved somehow in the next movie. My daughter said "Mom, Black Panther made like a billion dollars they aren't killing him now. "

So, we had some no-shows: Kraglin, Nakia, W'Kabi, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, Wasp, Lady Sif, Valkyrie, Korg, Sharon Carter, Coulson.

We've gotten outside confirmation that Hawkeye and Capt. Marvel will be in 4.

We don't know the turn-to-dust fate of Shuri, Wong, or any of the no-shows (except for Hawkeye).

Ant-Man and Wasp did film for 4. Just don't know how much. They have said what happens in Ant-Man and Wasp has an effect on the next film.
