Rumor Avengers E-Ticket More Dead Than You'd Think

What would be a cool April Fools joke at MB is if the ride is the same up until the doors close and the ride starts. Rocket's voice cuts out and transitions to one of the new Paris ToT stories with the girl appearing on the door. The only difference would be that it wouldn't have the hallway or mirror scene.

The video of Paris' version of tower feels like what I thought should have become of all iterations of the ride, sans Tokyo. I would have liked to have seen them drop the Twilight Zone theme and lean more into the ghost story. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the Rod Serling series, but I think Tower of Terror is solid enough to stand as its own brand. California's tower needed the varied drop profiles and, Guardians or not, still could use some new visual effects during the drop. I'd appreciate something more than screens.

Since we're already far off topic, I have always been intrigued by the rumor that DCA was once considering a variation on Tower of Terror called Hotel California, based around the classic song. If anyone knows anything more about this I'd be all ears!

Exactly. What would we miss about any of these re-themes if they suddenly reverted to their more than fine (better) original versions and we just got even one solid New E ticket instead?
This is an excellent point. I'm not as offended by Pixar Pier as some. Although, I always thought the name was lazy and stupid. And, for the love of luxo, don't get me started on that chicken box again. Anyway, when you frame it as "what would I miss if it reverted", I really have no answer. At best, everything was a move sideways.

Pixar Pier is worse if only because it lost all the Beach Boys music from Paradise Pier.

Yes
Paradise Pier didn’t have beach boys music since around the time that Toy Story Mania opened in 2008.

Pixar Pier’s music should have been original arrangements of Pixar music. It seems like they just used soundtrack CDs and pushed play.

I think it was 2010, but the early 20th century ragtime/jazz that came after the Beach Boys is also better than what's currently there. As much as I love the Beach Boys, that ragtime/jazz was really the perfect music for the area.

id imagine the development and construction of GotG Cosmic Rewind costs more than PIxar Pier and GotG MB together and then some

Probably. The question is how much more. Just pointing out that overlays of already popular rides don’t move the needle and are a waste of resources. That money plus whatever the balance of Cosmic Rewind (or any other new E ticket )costs would have been a much better way to spend the money at DCA

To get a little more specific, I think what DCA really needs are rides that make you feel like you were transported somewhere. I think the ride system and ticket classification are secondary. Although E tickets are inherently the kind of attraction that take you somewhere... at least at Disneyland. Just take the west side of Disneyland for example from Jungle Cruise to Splash Mountain. You have 5 attractions with 4 different kinds of ride vehicles that all transport you to another place and/or time and they do it physically moving you through many interesting sets and ride layouts. How many rides at DCA do this? RSR and to a lesser extent Grizzly River Run. GOTG:MB, Monsters Inc and Mermaid try but fall short due to lack of substance and/ or execution. Soarin over California (when it’s available) transports you as well as a screen ride can but at the end of the day it’s a screen ride where the entirety of the attraction takes place in one room.

The park also lacks rides that take you indoors in general. It’s one of the reasons the great ITTBAB queue shined for me at DCA. Made you feel like you “left the park.”

The queue is a nothing burger, but we were actually pretty big fans of Monsters Inc.!

Maybe it’s because it was our first trip and it got swept up in the happiness of being there for the first time, but we all liked it well enough to do it a few times on our trip.

Granted, we loathed Mission: Breakout and loved Incredicoaster, so maybe we’re just weird eggs to crack.

I am concerned about the E-Ticket being on hold; we spent 3 days at the resort, and DCA barely took up a third of our time before we wanted to head back to Disneyland.

At the very least they should allow DCA to open Pixar Pier. All outdoor rides. They could even open TSMM as the seating arrangement is very COVID safe-friendly. I’d pay up to $50 for a Pixar Pier ticket.

How desperate I’ve become but an afternoon / evening riding the pier rides and a meal at Paradise Gardens with music sounds great. My son is really into “carnivals” right now so he would love it too.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is open due to being partly a "zoo". I took my daughter there a couple months ago and was pleasantly surprised to see the midway games open. We spent out last hour+ there, and came home with more uneeded stuffed animals.

i went to san diego zoo yesterday, 60 bucks a ticket but well worth it. I spent 5-6 hours walking around, the place is huge! Food is good too

Also, Grizzly Peak def transforms the riders, its my 3rd fave ride in both parks. I love it.
