I like the ronto wraps but I really wish there was a full sit down dining exp in GE. Imagine if they used space 220 tech to create a "deathstar diner" where you beam up into the deathstar and eat in a massive hangar bay with a couple tie fighters in it or something...

Improved the pace? There's literally no buildup. Its a clunky workaround, from the elevator doors opening into... an exit hallway. Down to the push back and no moment of quiet terror when you roll -- in complete darkness - into the drop shaft. Less problematic ride system? check. cheaper? double check? As effective? fail.
I can't believe this is even a debate. The wdw version is far superior.

Was able to snag a WEBSLINGERS boarding pass yesterday so I got to see Avengers Campus without waiting in a 5 hour standby line.

It’s bad. It’s somehow slightly worse than I thought it was going to be and my expectations were low. Now some of this is influenced by the fact that I was there during peak heat yesterday (85 F) at about 2pm and it was crowded. It felt very crowded in the land. I’m talking old days Disneyland crowded. There.is.no.SHADE.ANYWHERE! I was able to find the only shade in the land at the time outside of Web Suppliers due to some trees separating Cars Land and Avengers Campus. I wouldn’t be surprised if those are some pre Avengers trees.

As I was walking around after riding Web Suppliers and getting sun burnt, I thought to myself that this land is a dream come true for Chapek. A land where meet and greets and food are the main attractions to go along with a ride that also has merch add ons.

It starts out Ok with the Spider-Man warehouse especially if the show is going on. The show is a little better in person. Specifically if you are at a vantage point that misses all the cheesy launch pre launch stuff. I happened to catch the Spider-Man show twice. Once on Maters as the ride was about to start. We happened to be facing the Spidey building and got a great view of the launch. Another time as were walking out of the land where we saw brief glimpses and managed to miss all the cheesy “watch me flip” stuff. I think the show serves better as kind of just atmosphere and background noise then anything else which I guess is kind of the point. My son got a kick out of seeing Spider-Man up there though so we have to keep that in mind.

As much fun as we made of the “circuit city” building I think it’s my favorite part of the land as they made an attempt to convey a sense of history by making the origin of the building Stark Motors. For example here in the indoor queue of Webslingers you have this old school department store font. Just a little example of course but I like that stuff.

Overall I liked the queue for WEBSLINGERS, particularly the interior queue. I think part of it is that we haven’t had this sort of a view of a loading zone in a new Disney attraction in a long time. Falcon you re stepping into a cockpit at the end of a hallway and ROTR you step out of that small holding cell into a tiny room with 2 vehicles waiting there. There is a certain pleasure I get seeing all of the Spider-Man vehicles cycling through. I’m really trying to find the good here if you can’t tell lol.

WEBSLINGERS: The Ride Experience: of the 4 interactive rides at DLR I think When it comes to overall experience I have it 3rd, right above Buzz Astro Blasters. I don’t think it is as fun as Smugglers Run or TSMM. It felt a little short. I feel like it needs 1-2 more scenes/ screens. Also the tech while impressive, wasn’t as fun as I thought it would be. The webs kind of looked like silly string coming out of hands as opposed to Spider-Man webs. The tech was very accurate and responsive but it kind of works against itself, for me at least. The fact that you are not holding anything means you lose the tactile component and feel a disconnect from the webs you are shooting.

It wasn’t hard to track the webs but thats to be expected as my wife was covering my 8 months old ears (it was louder than we thought it would be) and my son wasn’t slinging that many Webs. So 1.5 of us were slinging. I also wasn’t slinging as great as I could have as I was also busy engaging my son and showing him what to do. I wasn’t aware that you could pull things toward you but I’m not sure it would have made a huge difference for me. So that brings me to those wrist devices Chapek is selling. Do they vibrate? I know some sort of fake web thing shoots out right? I think that would help with the tactile disconnect I was feeling and perhaps is part of their plan to sell more. Because that’s more than just getting a slightly higher score or slinging different colored webs. It’s perhaps solving my biggest issue with the ride. Not that I’ll be in line to buy one anytime soon.

I didn’t notice any of the transition issues or thin walls. I think for this type of ride I’m suspending disbelief at the level required. I thought the hallways were themed well enough and actually worked enough considering where your attention is going. There was one scene that had a simulated drop that was unexpected and a pleasant surprise. The ride vehicles are super comfortable and comfortably accommodate a family of 4 of all sizes.

Overall I enjoy TSMM more. You are competing against the person next to you do the at inherently makes it more fun and engaging. I also just enjoy the set up more day with TSMMs games. The gameplay is more fun for as you have the shooter in your hand and creates more of a connection with what you are seeing on screen. In Webslingers it all goes so fast and is kind of chaotic. Kind of like a shooter version of Mission Breakout. Perhaps providing more repeatability for gamers but overall not as fun as TSMM for me. Spider-Man definitely is more immersive though and has the better theming.

The LAND: Really does a poor job of creating a sense of place. It’s just a bunch of different things slapped together. I call it a Convention center with different “booths.” The old Stark Motors warehouse, the modern Shiny Avengers building, the mystical earthy Dr Strange area and the sleek restaurant bar. The Avengers building and the bar kind of work together but that’s about it. Then of course you have the Ugly Collectors tower towering over everything.

After getting off Webslingers I just honestly wanted to get the hell out of there. It was hot and crowded. There were a few meet and greets going on and that didn’t interest me at all as well as that show with the bald Black chicks going on. Did I mention it was hot? The white ground seems to just reflect the sunlight right back onto you. I blame my hour in that land for my sun burned forehead. When I was in the land GOTG: MB was 75 min so we just left. The whole group just kind of wanted to get out of there. I’m sure at night (when it’s cooler with the nice lighting package) and when things calm down and it just becomes another place in the park it will be better. Still though, nothing really there for me. We tried the Honey Buzz drink and Mango Beer drink. Both were good. We didn’t try any of the food as were full from our lunch at Craftsman and had our stomachs set on some Birria Tacos from Covina Cucamonga for dinner. The food coming out of Pyms didn’t look good though. You know the fake plastic food people out in display cases because they don’t want to waste food everyday? It looked like that. Perfect for Instagram.

Avengers Campus from a thematic standpoint is the worst land at DCA. It’s better than Hollywoodland only for its content in that it’s providing much more entertainment and has a repeatable video game ride. But there is hardly anywhere to sit unless you get one of the few spots at the bar or restaurant. It was kind of sad seeing the huge open areas of white concrete and lack of trees. Bugs Land had a certain charm to it. If I could wave a magic wand and bring back Bugs Land I would. Even if just to bring back the pleasant thoroughfare it was and to bring ITTBAB back.

It was also sad seeing what the area around Tower of Terror has become. At night with that old haunted jazz music playing it created much more of an ambiance and sense of place than what we have there now.

Anyone going to DCA soon, please do not wait in that long standby Line to get into the land. I promise you it’s not worth it for a solid 95% of the population. You re time will be much better than spent enjoying the rest of the park especially when you are paying for the day. It’s not like these are APs waiting in line.

theres a large area to sit with tables and shade trees beside the Hyperion theater fyi. Thats where I sat when I went to Pyms, was quite a pleasant and quiet-ish spot to eat. Being a ginger, shade is very important to me and I agree not enough shade in AC!

And yeah I def agree when the new land buzz dies down and you can come and go through this land as you please it will be much much better.

I think Disney created this craziness by preventing people from entering the land. People are artificially crowding the land because they can't leave until they get their mobile order food that won't be ready for 3 hours. Honestly, if they just threw open the gates people would come in, watch a few shows, ride what they can, get their food and move on. It's the gating of the land that is causing all this nonsense.

I'm interested in seeing what happens after Tuesday.

Thanks for the honest review @mickEblu. Let's all have a moment of silence for the loss of shade trees that was BugsLand.....

Tangent:

This was the first time we'd visited since they converted Flik's Flyers to Emotional Whirlwind. Ugh... I like purple, but that concrete purple nightmare is just ugly. They sucked all the charm away and threw the ride in the sun and surrounded it with concrete. They converted it from a Disney carnival ride to a Six Flags carnival ride. I mean, really? The balls don't move? The little whirlygig things don't whirl? It was pretty sad, IMO. Oh well.

Tangent over. Carry on....

It's all good dude :) they are the Dora Milaje they are Black Panther's guards. BTW what did your son and wife think of web slingers? What characters did you see in the land besides Spider-Man?

Which one is Dora? Their were three of them. Haha jk. (I’m on my Dad joke game lately)

My wife liked it less than I did but she also wasn’t playing lol. I also saw Iron Man, Black Snack Widow, Captain Marvel looking lovely from afar, Antman and Black Panther.

My son liked the ride and said it was one of his favorites of the day and he doesn’t really know who Spider-Man is. He just knows he’s a Super hero and he’s an old toy of his. He’s never seen any of the movies. I think he’ ll like it even more the older he gets and the more experience he has on the ride. He’s only 5.5 and I’m sure he’s only going to get more into video games. He just discovered the world of Nintendo and all the Mario characters so I’ll probably get him a Nintendo Switch for his b day.

I thought I recall them saying at D23 it was an entirely new ride system?

FOP obviously makes sense, but I was banking on some seating configuration change gimmick to transition from a quinjet.

I believe that Disney has promoted the new Guardians attraction in Epcot as something like "a new and innovative story-telling rollercoaster" and yet it looks suspiciously like Gringotts but without the physical sets.

I believe that Disney has promoted the new Guardians attraction in Epcot as something like "a new and innovative story-telling rollercoaster" and yet it looks suspiciously like Gringotts but without the physical sets.
Two different rides. Gringotts uses pusher tires mounted on the track to move the cars, except at the start and end for the gravity sections. Designed and built by Intamin, the pusher tires are quite noisy and required tons of adjustment to cover.

Guardians at Epcot is a prototype from a different company, Vekoma. Vekoma designed and built Everest, Rock n Roller Coaster, barnstormer, etc. It won't use pusher tires throughout and will have at least one high speed lajnch using magnets at the start.
