Well at least there is a single creative director. I don't know if he is as good as Trowbridge, but at least there is one person driving it.
Well he seems to be the guy behind Shanghai's TL, so he's got that going for him.
I though it was Joe Rhode that was heading this up?
They get all the merch money.I actually have high expectations for Spiderverse.
Now forgive my naivete with the issues of IP ownership...but does Marvel see any money from these films? Or does Sony pocket it all? And could the MCU introduce Venom at some point? Or would they have to get Sony's permission?
Do we think we’re getting a Stunt-tronic for the Spider-Man ride?
That is a reasonable assumption (based on a small amount of non-public info). It remains to be seen how robust the Stun-tronics are in a production environment.
Carsland seems awfully convincing as a world into itself. The rest of the park wouldn’t be fake by definition since it’s about California. So Marvel Land is really about a new Avengers headquarters in California as the actual state and not an amusement park. We shouldn’t have to over think this since it matters little and everyone ignores the backstory except for super fans that manages to destroy the concept entirely.
You moved the goalposts since you previously said no attractions are “selling a world or environment”. Carsland is selling a world of Cars and we can safely call it California since this is in California Adventure. Most people might not intentionally think about the back story- but making sure everything within the park works together to further improve the overall park is essential to creating a quality theme park.
Cars Land is a great themed land, but it doesn't take place in California- so it weakens the idea that California Adventure is a California themed park.
If Marvel Land is supposed to take place elsewhere in California than California Adventure, that's just intentionally confusing and obtuse on the part of Imagineering. I'm not saying this isn't the case, just that it's a really lousy idea for a themed land inside a park.
Disneyland's greatest strength is that the lands don't take place in specific locations, but instead combine the best ideas from each given locale. New Orleans Square probably comes the closest to breaking this, but it's an extreme romanticism of the real New Orleans, and really couldn't be considered accurate or depicting a specific location in New Orleans.
Toontown is a made up location specifically for the park, with the idea that it's where the animated characters that are seen in the park live. It's a bit convoluted, but it kind of works and the land is easily forgettable.
That's a stupid backstory, too, though.I don't find this to be much different than the backstory for Mickey's Toontown.

Is it a haunted house?Notice how the article mentions the phrase "stronger together". This is obviously proof that the Marvel land will feature a Hillary Clinton attraction.
