Am I wrong in thinking that Marvel is going to become super dated in a decade or two? Like Star Wars is a (relatively) timeless IP to me, but superhero movies are like the westerns of our generation and I feel like they're going to be viewed that way by older generations.
You seem to be on the same page as Spielberg

I guess I should've specified, talking about the modern live-action Marvel aesthetic (which I believe this new land is based on unless I'm wrong). I agree Universal's Spider-Man is great but that seems more rooted in the original comic adaptation.
I could see it having the Tomorrowland problem
I wish too, but it doesn't thematically belong in DCA either. Only a third park would work.

On the other hand, does Marvel even belong in a theme park thematically relating to California?
West Coast Avengers is a thing but starting out with interstellar based Guardians and a Queens based Spidey doesn’t help. Like SuddenStorm says tho, better than Disneyland

Yeah I think of 2/3 of DCA as the hodge podge park and the last remaining third as having really having anything to do with California. So I would have preferred it there over DL even though I think the land in and of itself would not have been better at DCA.

I mean I still think that there is a relatively large portion of the park still keeping the California theme. Just Bugs Land which is now Marvel Land is the one that baffles me. Marvel is just going to stick out at DCA like a sore thumb. It already is though. Just seeing that hideous Collector's Fortress looming over the park still disgusts me.

Just the shell of Hollywoodland and Grizzly Peak keep the California theme. What else?

Oh ya the Cannery Row food court.

Buena Vista Street, Pacific Wharf, Pixar Pier (I still think it keeps the old boardwalk theme, just with Pixar), and somewhat Cars Land (Route 66, cars, neon, desert).

That’s right forgot BVS. But I won’t give you the cartoon Cars Land that looks more like Arizona and that in the movie they even said “they were on their way to California” when in Radiator Springs. So I think 1/3 California is fair.

Paradise Pier was a generic boardwalk and now it’s a cartoon boardwalk. I don’t consider it having anything to really do with California unlesss you re reaaaaallllllllly stretching it.

The California theme has been stretched and will continue to be stretched. The pier was never in doubt as being California. Adding Pixar doesn’t take anything away. Carsland is true to it’s source material. Not the perfect fit, but close enough. Do we need to keep this going on?

Imo they just should have put Marvel in Tomorrowland. They have had trouble fixing that land from the beginning and it’s a place where Marvel does fit. They can’t use “Marvel” in the name anyway so just keep the Tomorrowland name. It really works in Hong Kong and it would fix Disneyland’s Tomorrowland problems..

Looks like we’ll have to wait 5 years or so until phase two of Marvel land brings something worthwhile.

Unless the Dr. Strange experience turns out to be an amazing surprise.

Completely forgot that was a thing tbh. What is it even supposed to be again?

Whether Disney likes it or not, this Spider-Man ride will be forever compared to the one in Florida. You’d think they’d step up to the plate and try to outdo what was done before but instead, they mailed it in. That is, if these drawings are for DCA also but I’m pretty sure they are.
